As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for quirky comedies, this news about Splitsville has me pumped! With a cast that includes Nicholas Braun, David Castaneda, O-T Fagbenle, Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, Michael Covino, and Kyle Marvin, it’s shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I remember the unique charm of The Climb, and with these talented minds coming together again, I can hardly wait!
Actors Nicholas Braun (from Succession), David Castaneda, and O-T Fagbenle have signed on for the cast of Michael Covino’s forthcoming adult comedy titled Splitsville. This film is being produced by Neon and Topic Studios.
In addition to Dakota Johnson, who was earlier mentioned, the movie cast includes Adria Arjona, Covino, and Kyle Marvin. This week, Neon International is showcasing “Splitsville” at AFM in Las Vegas. The independent film has already completed its production.
The story revolves around Ashley (Arjona), who initiates a divorce from her kind-hearted partner Carey (Marvin). In his distress, Carey seeks comfort in his friends Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino). However, Carey is taken aback when he learns that the key to their bliss was an open marriage. Eager to give it a try, he crosses boundaries, ultimately causing turmoil in all their relationships.
Cinema duo Covino and Marvin gained recognition with their 2019 hit indie comedy “The Climb,” a critically acclaimed production. After its premiere at Cannes, Sony Pictures Classics took notice and acquired the film. In this movie, they both acted together, and it was also Covino’s first directorial venture, showcasing his promising talent as an up-and-coming filmmaker.
The film titled “Splitsville” by Neon will be available domestically, with a planned release date set for 2025. Internationally, Neon International will manage sales. Notably, Neon and Topic Studios have previously joined forces on Brandon Cronenberg’s “Infinity Pool,” marking the first in-house production by Neon to make its way to cinemas.
The film “Splitsville” was created at Topic Studios, following a multi-year first look deal with Covino and Marvin, which stemmed from their collaboration on Covino’s directorial debut, “The Climb“. Together with Topic Studios and Neon, Covino and Marvin are producing this project under their production banner Watch This Ready, along with Emily Korteweg.
Additionally working on projects for TeaTime Pictures are John Donnelly (Ro), Samantha Racanelli, while Arjona and Paul Barbeau assume the roles of executive producers.
1) Braun is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, while Castañeda is represented by Buchwald and Stark Management. In addition, Fagbenle is under the representation of Buchwald as well.
