As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the news of Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy collaborating on a non-Marvel project has me buzzing with anticipation. Having grown up watching both Jackman’s Wolverine and Reynold’s Deadpool in their respective franchises, it’s thrilling to imagine what these talented actors could do together outside the confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
2011 saw Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman join forces for “Real Steel,” with Levy later collaborating with Ryan Reynolds on “Free Guy” and “The Adam Project.” This year, these three talented individuals finally teamed up thanks to the Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Though it’s not yet confirmed if they will reunite for “Deadpool 4,” there are rumors about another exciting collaboration between Levy, Jackman, and Reynolds that has me nearly as thrilled.
On the Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, he shared that he plans to work on a non-Marvel film in 2025, which will feature both Levy and Jackman. Simply put, he announced that he intends to write a new movie, set to be released in 2025, where Levy and Jackman will participate.
For the upcoming year, I’ll be engrossed in crafting a script. This isn’t a Marvel production, but rather a screenplay I’ve written for both Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy to bring to life.
It’s unclear whether the project Ryan Reynolds is hinting at is a movie that has already been approved by a studio or something he’s developing independently for presentation later. You might remember that in February 2023, it was announced that Reynolds was working on a boy band reunion comedy with Levy producing, and then in December there was news about Levy being selected to direct Reynolds in a Netflix international heist comedy. Could it be that the project Reynolds is teasing is one of these previously-disclosed projects, and now Hugh Jackman has joined forces?
As a fanatic gamer, I can’t hide my excitement about the possibility of seeing Deadpool, Wolverine, and another mystery man team up in an uncharted universe. Given how incredibly well their previous adventure, Deadpool & Wolverine, did, I’m confident I’m not the only one eagerly waiting to see what these three can cook up together outside the Marvel realm. Fingers crossed we’ll get a chance to witness this in Deadpool 4 someday. The third installment was a massive hit with audiences and critics alike, earning Eric Eisenberg of our team a 3.5 out of 5 stars rating in his Deadpool & Wolverine review. To add fuel to the fire, Deadpool 3 has raked in an astounding $1.3 billion globally, placing it as the second-highest grossing movie slated for release in 2024, with Inside Out 2 being the only film ahead of it.
Although Deadpool 4 might not be in the works currently, it doesn’t rule out future appearances of Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Logan. With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars marking the end of The Multiverse Saga, characters from different parts of the Marvel multiverse could potentially show up, including Deadpool and Wolverine. If such a scenario doesn’t materialize, at least there’s another film in the pipeline featuring them and Shawn Levy to anticipate.
The action-packed duo of Deadpool & Wolverine is currently available for purchase in both digital and physical formats. From November 12th, you can stream it with a Disney+ subscription. As more details about the upcoming movie Ryan Reynolds is penning become known, we’ll be sure to share them here.
