I’ve just got my hands on the complete collection of Balenciaga’s collaboration with Under Armour, dubbed as a “series” by the brand under Demna’s leadership. It’s packed with sporty vibes, and to showcase it all, they’ve released a captivating slow-motion campaign, beautifully captured by photographer and videographer Joseph Kadow.
This energetic photo session showcases models Léa and Gedeon standing still but making it look like they are running, while they don clothing items from the diverse collection that was first presented on Balenciaga’s Spring 2025 runway in Shanghai last May. The sportswear-inspired line offers a wide variety of ready-to-wear garments for both men and women, as well as bags, jewelry, sunglasses, sneakers – an exciting mix of Balenciaga’s humorous style and Under Armour’s practical functionality.
Noteworthy items in this collection are the Transformable Under Armour Hoodie Bag, converting an ordinary zip-up hoodie into a shoulder bag featuring collaborative symbols typically placed on the chest. Additionally, reversible tracksuits, windbreakers, layered track pants, denim trousers, cycling bodysuits, flared sweatpants, sweatsuit hoodies, and various activewear pieces proudly display the UA logo alongside the classic Balenciaga emblem. Throughout the collection, traditional garments such as crewnecks with short sleeves paired with sports bras, or layered track pants, are cleverly designed as hybrid trompe-l’œil pieces, giving the illusion of multiple layers but in reality, they are single garments with combined silhouettes.
In terms of footwear, the selection features collaborative designs such as Balenciaga Runner, 3XL, and Hyper Sneaker variants, along with a jewelry range offering chunky chokers, hoop and stud earrings equipped with twist-lock clasps inspired by UA’s emblem. The entire line is a blend of authentic athletic apparel and high-end fashion, catering ideally to streetwear enthusiasts (or those who might have the budget for gym clothing priced at around $800 USD).
In May, Balenciaga sparked curiosity about its collaboration with Under Armour by posting an eye-catching “UA” earring design on Instagram, which ignited discussions about the potential success of their partnership. During its Shanghai show, Balenciaga showcased a variety of co-designed pieces with Under Armor, such as performance jackets, workout leggings, track pants, and branded belts. Immediately following the show, Balenciaga introduced a modest ready-to-wear collection in partnership with their new sportswear partner, including grey fleece shorts priced at $1,150 USD and sweatpants costing $1,290 USD.
