As a gamer who has seen his fair share of virtual worlds, I find the Spring/Summer 2025 collection from Praying to be an uncanny reflection of my own reality. The prominence of money and consumerism in our daily lives is something that resonates deeply with me, especially when I’m trying to level up my character but can’t seem to afford the right gear.
In simpler and more natural language: Praying, as always, expresses its ideas directly through each of its collections. For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, it’s doing so again by using its line of graphic-heavy clothing to share a glimpse into its thoughts and perspectives.
Reflecting on how money seems to underpin every aspect of our contemporary existence, I’m drawn to explore the financial hurdles we face regularly, using relatable themes like high-end brands, shopping destinations, and symbols that saturate our daily lives as a means to connect.
One shirt says, “Should I collapse at Walmart, carry me over to Neiman Marcus,” while others boldly state, “I’m so swamped all day, yet barely earn much,” and “Unemployment has no match in the pay it offers.
In a style reminiscent of irony, subtle hints are woven throughout the entire collection. A tank-top, for instance, bears the optimistic statement “2013 will be my year,” while its accompanying shorts carry the ominous warning “This container carries a disease with no known cure” on the back. Another tank top is emblazoned with the phrase “I don’t feel good” in silver letters.
Upgraded heavyweight hoodies feature bedazzled details all over, while the Terry Sweat collection follows suit with similar embellishments.
Take a look at the items displayed and consider purchasing something from the complete Praying Spring/Summer 2025 collection when it becomes available for purchase on the brand’s website on Friday, November 8.
