Metal Gear Solid Delta Officially Reveals the Disney Princess Voice Behind Eva

As a lifelong fan of Metal Gear Solid, I can’t help but feel nostalgic with every new piece of information about the upcoming remake of MGS3: Snake Eater. The recent revelation that Jodi Benson, the voice actress behind Ariel in The Little Mermaid, was the one behind the enigmatic Eva’s voice is a mind-blowing twist that has sent shockwaves through the fanbase.

Although Hideo Kojima is no longer affiliated with Konami, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of Konami continuing to capitalize on the potential of the Metal Gear Solid series.

At present, the main emphasis of the company lies in launching a revamped version of the classic game, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which is based on MGS3. Recently, a sneak peek into the production process has shed light on an intriguing question about this series—who provides the voice for Eva?

The Real Identity of Eva’s Voice Actress

In the original “Metal Gear Solid 3”, the character Eva’s voice was attributed to Suzetta Minet, who was not a real person. However, with the upcoming remake, it has been disclosed that ‘Suzetta’ was in fact a pseudonym used by Jodi Benson, known for voicing Ariel in “The Little Mermaid”.

Here’s the reveal:

It was found out that while working on Metal Gear in the early 2000s, Benson suggested using an alias for her due to her involvement in multiple family-friendly projects. She explained, “Since most of my career work is family and children-oriented, it was Kris Zimmerman Salter who suggested I might need a new name.” They eventually chose the name “Suzetta Minet,” which is a rearrangement of Benson’s childhood dog’s name, “Suzette Monet.

In the game series, Ava is a comrade to Naked Snake who debuted in Metal Gear Solid 3. She reappeared in the subsequent installment, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Fans have been on the Search

Initially when MGS3 debuted, certain enthusiasts started to speculate that Suzetta Minet was not a genuine individual. Over the years, there’s been a growing curiosity among fans as to who might have been providing the voice for Eva all along.

Even though Benson recently announced publicly that she was the voice of Eva in Metal Gear Solid 3, some fans had already figured this out. In a behind-the-scenes interview, she recalled an incident at conventions seven years ago when a fan gave her one of the games and said she was in it. Benson replied, “Why are you giving me that?”, to which the fan responded, “Because you’re in it,” and she playfully asked if he knew her secret. The fan was sworn to secrecy, as Benson wanted to keep it a surprise.

Benson and the Remake

At present, snippets about the remake are circulating, and it’s been mentioned that the game will largely repurpose voice recordings from the original version. Yet, it’s also been verified that Benson, along with other actors from the series such as David Hayter, have contributed extra lines specifically for Snake Eater.

Despite initial predictions, Metal Gear Solid Delta may not be releasing this year due to its late-November status. Some enthusiastic fans are now speculating that the game might have been postponed. However, positive early reviews about the remake have hinted at an exceptional final product, with fans eagerly anticipating its official release so they can experience it firsthand.

It’s anticipated that the game “Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater” will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and personal computers at some point this year.
