As a lifelong admirer of Phil McGraw, also known as Dr. Phil, I have always been impressed by his unwavering commitment to truth and justice. His latest stand against antisemitism and support for Israel during these trying times in the Middle East is yet another testament to his integrity and courage.
Phil McGraw anticipates that President Donald Trump, in his second term, will stand united with Israel, even amidst the volatile Middle East region.
The TV host expressed on Thursday, in Toronto during a fundraising event for the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center, that he’s confident the individual recognizes the significance of supporting our allies and cherishing friendship. In his view, this person appreciates the value of alliances, and there’s little doubt in his mind that this understanding won’t falter.
2024 saw McGraw receive the Allyship Award, recognizing his ongoing support for Israel following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. In a casual discussion, the talk show host expressed his disapproval towards other Hollywood celebrities who declined to join him in addressing the surge of antisemitism during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
I’m puzzled as to why some Jews in Hollywood, who I’ve worked closely with and consider friends, are hard to reach when needed, even though they’re actively involved in various causes. It just doesn’t make sense to me,” McGraw expressed at the Spirit of Hope gala dinner in Toronto.
As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “I chose not to take a stand against antisemitism in Hollywood because I understood the potential impact on my career. On October 7, 2023, when the topic of the Israel-Palestinian conflict surfaced, I argued that there’s no ethical parallel between Hamas terrorists who indiscriminately attacked Israeli civilians and Palestinians who unfortunately lost their lives due to military strikes by Israel, which were not intended to target civilians.
The television host expressed regret over any loss of life, particularly among children and non-combatants. However, he acknowledged that such casualties were unavoidable consequences resulting from the bombings during the Israel-Gaza clashes.
McGraw once again expressed his disapproval towards pro-Palestinian activists demonstrating on American university campuses following the start of the Israel-Gaza conflict, as well as their incitement of antisemitism. He stated, “The audacity of these individuals is astounding. If you were to search for logic, it would be impossible even with two weeks, a torch, and a guide. ‘Gays for Gaza.’ Try walking that across the Gaza border and observe how far you progress. In all seriousness,” he said during his casual chat in Toronto.
McGraw reminisced about his latest address during Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where he discussed how Republican Party followers are being intimidated and muted. He drew a parallel between this situation and the present quietness regarding antisemitism amongst onlookers.
If we, Americans and those living in the western world, don’t take action when we witness antisemitism against our Jewish fellow citizens, when we see hateful language, bullying, or hate crimes, or if we remain silent while Israel, our ally, is being bullied, then we share responsibility with those who are causing the violence.
Since the October 27th rally, the TV psychologist seems to be distancing himself from any support for Trump he might have expressed in a New York City speech, which emphasized defending free speech and criticizing cancel culture.
