As a fellow Marvel enthusiast and someone who shares Joe Locke’s passion for the franchise, I can wholeheartedly relate to his eagerness and enthusiasm. His story of trying to sneak onto the set of Thunderbolts is one that resonates deeply with me – if I had been there, I would have certainly given it a shot too!
Spoilers for Agatha All Along lies ahead, so read on accordingly.
A new wave of young talents is making their debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, distinguishing themselves from some seasoned co-stars because they’ve grown up alongside the franchise. For instance, Iman Vellani from Ms. Marvel and Xochitl Gomez in Doctor Strange are among these rising stars. Similarly, Joe Locke, who plays Teen/Billy Kaplan on Agatha All Along, fits this description. In fact, Locke’s enthusiasm for the Marvel universe is evident, as he once attempted to secretly visit the set of Thunderbolts, a fellow fan’s admiration I can completely relate to.
During an interview about the newest MCU series, the Heartstopper star was asked to name his favorite movie from the franchise. He responded by sharing that he particularly enjoys Black Widow (2021) because it delves deeply into Natasha Romanoff’s character. The Scene Stealers podcast co-host then praised Florence Pugh’s performance in the film, hinting at her upcoming role in the Thunderbolts cast. This prompted the British actor to reminisce about his past attempt to visit the Black Widow set.
As soon as our shoot wrapped up, I found myself yearning – almost instinctively – to catch a glimpse of them in action. So, I attempted to sneak around the sets, hoping for a peek. But alas, they spotted me and politely requested I leave. “Go away, go away!” they said. My response was, “What? I just want to take a quick look.
Frankly, there’s a lot of me in him, as I would have been just as curious and eager to catch a glimpse had I been near the set. Security for such productions is famously strict, often not even allowing franchise stars to see certain materials. Still, I admire Joe Locke’s passion for the Marvel universe and his desire to learn more about one of the upcoming Marvel films. What particularly appeals to me is that he gets to experience what many MCU fans dream of, a role he himself talked about in the YouTube video.
This is remarkably astonishing, almost as if I might pinch myself to confirm that it’s real. It seems more like a child’s fantasy come true, experiencing it makes it all the more surreal.

Marvel Movies In Order: How To Watch The MCU By Release Date And Chronologically
The Emmy-nominated actor has undeniably left an impression on the series so far, with his portrayal of Billy Kaplan, who is both Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s reincarnated son (Billy Maximoff), earning him widespread acclaim among fans. The stunning revelation about Billy being a “Teen” sent shockwaves through audiences, and the talented young actor delivered an outstanding performance that lived up to expectations. With his character looking set to take on a larger role in the future, it’s likely that the former Sweeney Todd cast member may find himself dealing with a Marvel filming location that’s out of bounds at some point.
Based on the trailer for “Thunderbolts,” this upcoming movie could be one of the most explosive additions yet to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will unite characters like Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, John Walker, and a variety of other antiheroes who are tasked with carrying out secret missions. The film directed by Jake Schreier promises to be thrilling, and I can’t wait to see what it delivers. If Joe Locke is the enthusiastic fan I believe he is, I’m certain he’ll be in a theater watching it after his unsuccessful attempt to visit the set.
Movie enthusiasts who love Marvel Cinematic Universe can anticipate the release of “Thunderbolts*” in theaters on May 2, 2025. For now, don’t miss out on Joe Locke’s portrayal of Billy Kaplan by streaming “Agatha All Along” with a Disney+ subscription.
