As a fervent admirer of Vicky Kaushal’s meteoric rise in Bollywood, I am continually awestruck by his resilience and determination. Born into the dynamic world of Indian cinema, he has not only weathered the storm but thrived amidst it.
Vicky Kaushal, son of stunt director Sham Kaushal, is now widely recognized as a talented actor in many homes. Having grown up around the Indian film industry, he’s no stranger to its ups and downs. However, at first, when he began his acting career, some individuals hesitated to audition him.
In a conversation with Friday Talkies, Vicky Kaushal’s father, Sham Kaushal, shared insights into his son’s career journey within the entertainment industry. The action director revealed that initially, there were those who would decline to audition Vicky, saying, ‘What use is it to audition Vicky?’
In this instance, Sham advised Vicky Kaushal that setbacks or humiliations should not dishearten him but rather serve as a foundation for his resilience. Essentially, he urged the Dunki actor to transform any negative experiences into sources of strength.
In a recent conversation, the seasoned stunt choreographer mentioned that despite collaborating with numerous filmmakers over the years, he never attempted to secure work for his child by reaching out to them. During this discussion, Sham also reminisced about an instance when Katrina Kaif’s husband, Vicky, initially showed reluctance to accept minor roles in his first film, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana.
In a film, the leading actor was presented with several minor roles. Many advised him against taking the part. However, it was his father who said, “Take what you can get,” encouraging him to follow his heart. When the actor informed his dad of his decision after the call, saying, “I’m still searching for opportunities and they’re giving me work, so I want to do it,” his father supported him in his choice.
In conversation with the same media outlet, Sham reminisced about the moment when Vicky and Sunny Kaushal shared their aspiration to enter Bollywood. Given that he too makes a living within the film industry, the father found it hard to refuse his children’s wishes.
Yet, he contemplated that others might invite them to share tea as a mark of respect towards him, but none would invest millions into a film with them. Nevertheless, due to his humble origins and diligent work ethic in the industry, he was convinced that if these young men remained truthful and persistent, they wouldn’t be denied opportunities in films.
