The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but get excited about the various spinoffs of “The Walking Dead” that are out there, with “Dead City” being one of my favorites. This series, set to return on AMC sometime in Spring 2025, as announced by The Walking Dead’s YouTube channel in October 2024, centers around two iconic franchise characters – Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). These characters are well-known for their captivating performances and I can’t wait to see what adventures await them!
Based on the previews thus far, it appears that “The Walking Dead: Dead City” is poised to return to the setting of Manhattan, now isolated from the U.S. mainland. Keep an ear out for further updates, including a specific release date, in the days ahead.
28 Years Later – June 20, 2025
Despite some arguments suggesting that Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later isn’t a typical zombie movie, it often finds itself categorized within this genre due to shared traits between the Rage virus and traditional zombie infections, as well as its exploration of a society pushed to its limits by a pandemic. The upcoming sequel, 28 Years Later, aims to rejuvenate the series, effectively disregarding the events of 2007’s 28 Weeks Later. This new installment is slated for release on June 20, 2025 .
Despite the storyline remaining under wraps, we’ve gathered quite a bit of information about the upcoming film, 28 Years Later. Key details include the star-studded cast consisting of Cillian Murphy, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland will be rejoining the creative team. Excitingly, this film marks the beginning of a new trilogy.
Marvel Zombies – October 2025
Fans of Marvel comics have longed for the TV adaptation of “Marvel Zombies,” and finally, in October 2025, their wishes will be granted. Following the animated episode of this popular and violent comic book series within the MCU’s “What If…?” series in 2021, it is now set to receive a full series treatment with beloved characters such as Captain Marvel, Shang-Chi, and more.
Even though we’re not yet certain about the exact release date of the four-part miniseries set within Marvel’s Phase 6, scheduled for October, it’s safe to say that it will make a fitting addition to our Halloween viewing lineup.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3
It’s not a shocker, but Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is on its way! Right after the Season 2 finale ended on AMC, the network gave us a sneak peek, confirming that we won’t have to wait much longer to rejoin Norman Reedus in his famous role. While they didn’t specify an exact date, the 36-second clip hinted at its premiere sometime in 2025.
In the upcoming weeks and months, you can look forward to learning more details about the forthcoming escapades involving Daryl, Carol, along with several other cherished characters from The Walking Dead.
We Bury The Dead – TBD
Daisy Ridley is set to rejoin the Star Wars universe at a later time, but prior to reprising her role as Rey, she’ll take a brief detour with the film “We Bury the Dead.” As reported by Variety, Ridley will star in director Zak Hilditch’s upcoming survival thriller. In this movie, her character becomes part of a team that retrieves dead bodies after a military experiment. However, she uncovers a chilling secret when some of the corpses start returning from the grave.
It’s unclear when and under what circumstances the movie “We Bury the Dead” will be available in the U.S., but the most recent production from its director, known for “1922” and “Rattlesnake,” had its premiere in Australia in November 2024.
Queens Of The Dead – TBD
Tina Romero, daughter of the late George A. Romero, is continuing in her father’s renowned legacy with her project “Queens of the Dead”. As reported by Deadline, this upcoming horror comedy will center around a group of drag queens and club kids who must temporarily set aside their disputes to navigate a zombie catastrophe.
Despite not having a specific release date yet, the movie “Queens of the Dead” promises an entertaining spectacle where Katy O’Brian, Jaquel Spivey, Margaret Cho, and many others will sport extravagant costumes and deal humorously with hordes of the undead.
Twilight Of The Dead – TBD
There’s lots to look forward to with the upcoming zombie film, “Twilight of the Dead,” which is being developed from an unfinished George A. Romero script following his death in 2017. As per Deadline, this project is under the direction of Brad Anderson, known for “The Machinist.” The story unfolds on a lush tropical island, where the remaining human survivors struggle to stay alive amidst a world overtaken by zombies.
Currently, there’s no known release date for “Twilight of the Dead,” but the “Resident Evil” series veteran Milla Jovovich and Betty Gabriel from “Get Out” have been announced as the main actors in the film.
More Tales From The Walking Dead Universe – TBD
2023 found me buzzing with excitement as ComicBook.com dropped the news that AMC was cooking up another series in their zombie-packed universe. Dubbed “More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe”, this six-episode short-form show is set to unfold in a world ravaged by the walking dead.
