Reflecting back on the illustrious career of the ever-charming Juhi Chawla as she turns 57 today, I find myself reminiscing about her captivating journey in Bollywood. Her anecdote regarding Aamir Khan’s initial casting for Darr is a fascinating insight into the behind-the-scenes dynamics of our beloved industry.
Today, November 13th, 2024 marks Juhi Chawla’s 57th birthday! On this joyous occasion, let’s take a trip down memory lane and recall an amusing tale about the actress. Back in the day, she expressed her delight when Aamir Khan was considered for the role of the anti-hero in her renowned film, Darr. However, it was Shah Rukh Khan who ultimately landed the part.
Previously, it came to light that Yash Chopra first offered the antagonist role to Aamir Khan, a fact shared by Juhi Chawla during their chat. This piece of news left Juhi particularly delighted since she had previously acted alongside Aamir Khan in earlier productions.
She expressed her joy when she found out that Yash ji intended to have Aamir Khan play the role previously done by Shah Rukh, as she has a long history of working with Aamir and feels at ease with him. However, when she learned that Aamir was not taking on the role, it went to Ajay Devgn and other young actors who ultimately declined, leaving Shah Rukh as the final choice. She couldn’t help but feel particularly excited about this turn of events! (as reported in Hindustan Times)
In her words, she shared that she was a naive, youthful girl during that period, eagerly immersing herself in life’s adventures without knowing exactly where it would lead her. The actress admitted to feeling the thrill of great moments but also being overpowered by their intensity.
Previously crowned Miss India, Juhi, mentioned that she hadn’t found much pleasure in working with Shah Rukh Khan due to their past collaboration on the film Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Over time, this project helped establish a sense of familiarity between them. Juhi went on to describe the experience as “an exciting journey.
In time, it can’t be denied that Juhi and SRK have maintained a robust partnership in their professional ventures and a deep friendship. Notably, they jointly own the Indian Premier League cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders, or KKR for short.
Besides this, the pair has acted together in various popular romantic comedies from the ’90s such as Yes Boss, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Duplicate, and others. Simultaneously, Juhi and Aamir have appeared in films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Ishq, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and more.
Juhi Chawla was last seen in Amazon Prime Video’s web series, Hush Hush, released in 2022.
