As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the ups and downs of the GTA universe since its inception, I must say that the recent update for the Definitive Edition has brought back a wave of nostalgia that I haven’t felt in years. It’s like Rockstar Games took a time machine, went back to my youth, and said, “Remember this? We can make it better.
3 years have passed since fans of the original GTA Trilogy eagerly waited, but their patience has finally been rewarded with Rockstar Games’ fresh update on the Definitive Edition. This update is now available across various platforms including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and both Xbox Series X|S.
Although the official change logs aren’t as extensive as those for Grand Theft Auto V across multiple generations, user @SynthPotato has provided a comprehensive rundown of what players should anticipate in this update.

One notable change is the removal of Grove Street Games from the game, considering that they were the original developers of the trilogy. Rockstar Games is possibly being careful with future collaborations now that GTA VI is just on the horizon.
At the game’s release, many Grand Theft Auto enthusiasts felt let down by the Definitive Edition’s lower visual quality relative to the original versions, as they had anticipated more updates to enhance the graphics.
Originally, the release of the Definitive Edition fell short of many players’ and our senior editor, Alister Kennedy’s, expectations. In fact, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the PS5 version, leading him to purchase a duplicate copy on Switch due to the tolerable issues in gameplay on a less powerful system. However, it’s reassuring that Rockstar is addressing these problems. I am looking forward to re-downloading it to witness the improvements made.
Rockstar Games’ affectionate attention towards the trilogy underscores their commitment to crafting a superior GTA VI experience compared to its earlier versions.
After a three-year wait, longtime Grand Theft Auto enthusiasts now have even more reasons to reminisce and rejoice as they approach the release of GTA VI, with these new additions.
