As a seasoned gamer of reality TV shows, I must say that my experience with “The Masked Singer” has been quite the rollercoaster. The recent elimination of Bethany Hamilton from Group C during the opening episode of Season 12 left me both entertained and slightly disheartened.
Heads up! The next information discloses secrets from the “Who Are You Fest” episode of The Masked Singer. If you don’t want to ruin the surprise, make sure to watch it first with a Hulu subscription, and proceed only if you dare!
The reality show, “The Masked Singer,” commenced the Group C phase of Season 12, and it wasn’t much of a shock who was eliminated in the premiere episode. Unfortunately, ‘Macaron’ missed the mark and failed to advance, ultimately being unveiled as Bethany Hamilton, the surfer, writer, and star of “Soul Surfer.” Despite anticipating her elimination, she made an unexpected revelation during her chat with TopMob.
I, Hamilton, have quite a bit of experience with reality TV shows, having participated in everything from a celebrity diving challenge to an exciting season of The Amazing Race. When The Masked Singer reached out, I was more than happy to join the fun. But here’s the twist – they didn’t mention anything about singing! To be fair, it wasn’t something I would have expected, but now that I’m in it, let’s see how this unexpected talent unfolds!
At first, I believed I’d become a judge. Yet, it never crossed my mind that I was actually singing. Once the realization struck, I was taken aback, exclaiming something like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ You see, while I sing to my kids at bedtime, singing isn’t really my strong suit. However, being competitive as I am, I thought, ‘Perhaps I can compensate with my performance and other aspects.’
She gave her all, but it was evident to me from the start that someone else would be leaving ‘The Masked Singer’. Although she wasn’t the poorest singer in the show’s record books, her performance could potentially lead to a surprising elimination on Fox. The judges’ predictions, however, seemed to undermine the reveal by making some extremely unconventional guesses. I can’t fathom how they arrived at Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Monica Lewinsky as possibilities, but those were truly bizarre suggestions.
During the course of answering an earlier query, Bethany Hamilton unexpectedly disclosed some information. This led me to ask the straightforward question: how could she not have known she would be singing if she accepted a spot on The Masked Singer? It turns out that there was one particular reason why many aspects of this show were unfamiliar to her – she had never participated in a singing competition before.
Initially, the show was unfamiliar to me, so upon hearing about my potential role in it, I assumed I might serve as a judge or advisor. However, after witnessing some incredibly talented singers, particularly one girl who sang effortlessly and powerfully like a doll, I realized that I may not be the winner this season.
Bethany Hamilton initially wasn’t aware of how the show typically receives Grammy-winning artists, but she quickly figured it out. It’s a little disappointing that she was eliminated so swiftly because it would have been fascinating to hear her perspective, given that she had no prior knowledge about the show or her feelings about competing against someone as accomplished in singing as Paula Cole.
Regrettably, she won’t be joining us at the live shows for this season of The Masked Singer, as we wait to see who from Group C makes it to the semifinals. We’re deep into the competition now, but it seems like only yesterday when we chatted with John Elway about his comparison to Tom Brady. I hope these remaining weeks provide a pleasant slowdown so I can hold onto Season 12 for a bit longer.
Tune in to Fox every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time to watch the latest episodes of “The Masked Singer”. As we approach the finale, don’t forget to stay updated by catching up on past episodes via streaming if you haven’t already. Also, keep an eye on TopMob for more updates as the season progresses.
