As a die-hard fan of Marvel’s gritty and intense characters, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the news that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will play a major role in “Daredevil: Born Again.” Ever since his gripping debut in “Daredevil” Season 2 back in 2016, Bernthal has embodied the complex and tormented Frank Castle with unparalleled skill. His portrayal of The Punisher was a masterclass in emotional depth and physicality, earning him a well-deserved Emmy nomination.

It’s confirmed that we haven’t seen the last of Jon Bernthal as the fan-favorite Marvel anti-hero, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. After making a strong debut in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil series, Bernthal’s portrayal of The Punisher starred in two solo series before all Marvel-related Netflix shows were axed. Now, he is set to reappear alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, and despite his grim and ominous character, there’s a promising future for him in the MCU ahead.

During an interview on the YouTube channel @BrandonDavisBD, Winderbaum was inquired about the possibility of Frank Castle reappearing in the MCU after the series “Daredevil: Born Again.” The head of Marvel TV provided an extremely encouraging response, suggesting…

Absolutely agree with you! He truly shines in that role, and I’m eagerly anticipating your reaction when you watch him in the upcoming series. I have no doubt that he has a promising future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe after this.

Back in 2016, I was first introduced as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, on Daredevil’s Season 2. It didn’t take long for me to show that I was an ideal fit for this Marvel legend, and my performance in Daredevil paved the way for a spin-off series the following year. The Punisher series lasted two seasons, with each one delving into Castle’s quest to expose a conspiracy connected to the demise of his family.

Similar to other Netflix/Marvel series, the standalone show was abruptly ended in 2019. However, neither cancellation nor adversity can keep The Punisher from rising again. The tales of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will persist in the upcoming Disney+ series titled Daredevil: Born Again, slated to debut on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.

“Daredevil: Reborn” draws inspiration from the comic book series “Mayor Fisk,” where New York City succumbs to The Kingpin as he is elected mayor. In this tale, Matt Murdock finds himself working for Fisk, a connection suggested in earlier glimpses. The Kingpin orchestrates a battle against costumed heroes using his skill in manipulation and feigned philanthropy.

In addition to Charlie Cox portraying Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, and Jon Bernthal playing Frank Castle, infamously known as The Punisher, the series “Daredevil: Born Again” will feature Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his role as Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin. Also returning are Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, and Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, who is well-known as Bullseye. Additionally, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, and Genneya Walton will also be part of the cast.
