As a seasoned Survivor fan with over a decade of tribal council dramas under my belt, I can confidently say that last night’s episode was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The blindside of Sol, while expected to some extent, was executed with such precision and chaos that it felt like a masterclass in Survivor strategy.
If you only checked the outcomes from last night’s episode of Survivor without watching it, you might have thought it was an ordinary Tribal Council ending in a standard blindside. In reality, it was anything but orderly; chaos ensued when the plan fell apart just before everyone left, leading to several contestants secretly discussing whom to vote for upon arrival. Host Jeff Probst even picked up on the confusion. The castaways ended up talking in small groups, trying to sort things out. It all seemed disorganized, but eventually, they managed to agree on a vote (except for the one who was blindsided). Despite this united front, it seems not everyone was content with the decision, as one player took to social media to clear up any misunderstandings.
Before we dive into detailed spoilers from the recent episode of Survivor 47, it’s important to note that if you haven’t watched all episodes yet, it might be best for you to explore other topics instead. Enjoy catching up!
It wasn’t surprising that Sol was sent home last night, as he had been the initial target of Genevieve and Sue’s plan. Originally, the group was going to keep things more under wraps with Genevieve, Sue, Gabe, Kyle, Caroline, and possibly Andy as the core members. However, Caroline lost her vote, which led to Rachel being brought into the mix. Rachel then revealed the plan to Sam, who told Sol, causing everything to unravel. This resulted in several new proposals involving Kyle and Sue. In the end, everyone went to Tribal Council still unsure of their next move, but after discussions, it was clear that Sol was the main target. He was ultimately blindsided by every member, even his closest ally Teeny.
Even though Teeny cast a ballot for Sol, this doesn’t necessarily imply she wished for him to leave. There was some misunderstanding about her actions due to her friendship with him, but she later cleared up that it was about self-protection rather than betrayal. To secure her own future, she couldn’t be the lone dissenter in the vote. Here’s what she tweeted: (Her censorship is as follows…)
If I hadn’t backed SOL, I’d have been the lone wolf missing out on the vote. I got the gist, saw no point in splitting hairs. Read a book, listened to a podcast – I’ve had enough of this debate.
In a subsequent tweet, Teeny explained that she wasn’t sure why she suggested reading a textbook, but it seems fitting in this context. Being aligned with the majority in a vote is essentially Survivor 101. It shows others you can cooperate and follow the group’s lead, making you less of a target. Additionally, if you manage to reach the finals, it boosts your chances with the jury.
Winning strategies can take various forms. Some players are adept at overcoming challenges, while others excel in social situations. There are also those who lead with assertiveness. However, there isn’t a specific personality type that guarantees success. What these successful players share is an awareness of the situation and a connection to the overall strategy. They may occasionally lose track, but generally, they have the interpersonal skills and connections to predict the vote before it happens. Teeny needs to emphasize this, and Sol would certainly appreciate the clarification.
I’m utterly clueless about who will emerge victorious in Survivor 47. Apart from a handful of contestants who seem to be merely along for the ride or have exposed themselves too openly, there are numerous skilled players still in the game with the capability to win. I can hardly contain my excitement to see what unfolds!
You can watch the fresh installments of “Survivor” season 47 on CBS every Wednesday evening, or you can stream it through several other available methods. If you’ve been away for a while, this could be an excellent opportunity to rejoin the series, as there’s tremendous anticipation leading up to Season 50, which will bring back all veteran players.
