As a long-time gamer of TV shows, particularly those that push boundaries and explore complex relationships, I must say that this week’s episode of Doctor Odyssey was nothing short of exhilarating! The throuple dynamic is not something we see every day, and it’s refreshing to see such an unconventional relationship being portrayed so honestly on television.

During the episode titled “Gay Week” on Doctor Odyssey, the Ryan Murphy-produced series delved into the nearly three-person relationship that was present.
In the final scene of the previous episode, the primary characters Max (Joshua Jackson), Avery (Phillipa Soo), and Tristan (Sean Teale) decided to take their friendship to a more intimate level. Having mentioned that a threesome was something they all wanted to experience, Avery suggested she was open to it, prompting Tristan to act. Eventually, Max also became part of the group, with the scene ending in a fade-to-black.
As a gamer, I found myself diving into this week’s episode titled “Oh, Daddy!” It started off with Captain Robert, played by Don Johnson, getting a headstart on gay lingo before the ship’s “Gay Week.” He broke the news to the crew that his younger brother, none other than John Stamos, would be joining us, accompanied by his new boyfriend.
Take it easy, Max, it seems ‘Daddies’ are trending right now. That’s what they’re calling it among the youngsters,” Robert reassured Max, following the team’s consensus that he falls into the ‘daddy’ category.
Before Max, Avery, and Tristan had a chance to discuss their previous night’s events, Bob the Drag Queen unexpectedly showed up, invited by Captain Robert as a special present for his sibling. “You’re his favorite queen,” he acknowledged the visiting drag performer.
After quite a while, Stamos unexpectedly shows up accompanied by, believe it or not, not just one but two romantic partners. This, of course, prompts the main group to discuss an issue that Jackson’s Max once declared they should “avoid discussing ever again.
Avery expresses her observation, saying, “Both of you seem quite unusual, almost incredibly so,” she shares. “I must admit, it was enjoyable, thrilling even, and I’d welcome the opportunity for this experience to extend beyond just once.
During a patient consultation, Max and Tristan had a disagreement about the diagnosis, which prompted the doctor to discuss the matter with both Avery and Max. The doctor confided that he felt unable to be involved with more than one person at a time. Max then explained his feelings by saying, “I’m afraid it’s not possible, I truly can’t do it. The other night was marvelous, but it doesn’t align with who I am.
Avery remains unfazed, urging Tristan to persuade Max to reconsider the situation. Later on, Tristan admits to Avery that he has no desire to share her with anyone else.
Key moments in this episode feature Bob the Drag Queen’s performance to the tune of “Hot to Go” by Chappell Roan, Max receiving an unexpected revelation about Stamos’ character having two boyfriends, and a surprising event taking place – a birth occurring on board the ship itself.
The trio appears to have found themselves in a love triangle again, temporarily. However, as this latest event demonstrates, anything can happen in the realm of Doctor Odyssey.
