This record-breaking achievement took place on November 9 at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany, under the skilled guidance of Bugatti’s test driver and Le Mans winner, Andy Wallace.
The W16 Mistral carries forward Bugatti’s tradition of setting unprecedented speed records. Among its significant achievements are the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse reaching 408.84 km/h (253 mph) in 2013 and the Chiron Super Sport 300+ attaining a closed-cockpit record speed of 490.48 km/h (304 mph) in 2019. The event was graced by Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, along with other senior team members and the car’s owner. The custom-made $14.8 million USD W16 Mistral boasts a sleek black carbon exterior highlighted by “Jet Orange,” a tribute to Bugatti’s past speed-setting vehicles.
