As a lifelong fan of late-night talk shows and comedy in general, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Conan O’Brien being announced as the host for the 97th Oscars! Growing up, his wit and humor were a staple of my late nights, and his ability to engage with celebrities in a way that was both hilarious and respectful is something I’ve always admired.
One of the main topics generating buzz for upcoming award events is who will serve as the host. It’s no secret that guiding these ceremonies can be quite a challenge, especially for prestigious shows like The Oscars. However, it looks like The Academy has found an ideal fit, as they’ve selected Conan O’Brien to host the 97th Oscars. Needless to say, fans are thrilled with this choice!
Absolutely, you’ve got it right! At the 97th Academy Awards in 2025, the man steering the show will be none other than popular comedian and host, Conan O’Brien. After rumors swirled about potential hosts following Jimmy Kimmel’s decision not to return and John Mulaney declining the offer, there was much anticipation about who would step up. But with Conan O’Brien taking on the role, all doubts have been put to rest, as shown in his announcement video below.
Conan’s memorable instances on Late Night and his amusing exchanges with celebrities during his podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, clearly demonstrate why he’s an excellent fit for this position. Much like the exceptional Oscar hosts who preceded him, I’m confident that he will strike the ideal blend of sharp wit and genuine affection for films.
Many people believe this to be accurate, and I wholeheartedly agree. When it was revealed that the podcast host would serve as the event’s emcee, there was an outpouring of excitement, with even Sean Fennessey of The Big Picture expressing his enthusiasm in a post on X.
Great choice. No notes.
In addition, since I’ve always appreciated the comedian’s in-depth interviews from his Late Night years and enjoy his podcast discussions, I’m eagerly anticipating that same level of enthusiasm at the awards ceremony.
Given his apparent suitability for the role, I concur with @812filmreviews’ sentiment. Or, in simpler terms, I think he’s just right for the job, as does @812filmreviews.
This took way too long to happen
Given his past successful hosting gigs at the Emmys in 2002 and 2006, which were highly praised by many commenters, and considering his recent viral moment during the 2021 Emmys when he interrupted Stephen Colbert’s speech, creating a memorable and hilarious scene, it seems reasonable to suggest that his style of humor and spontaneity would be ideal for the Oscars. This is what fans seem to crave, as @WyattDuncan posted on social media.
As a gamer diving into a challenging level, I’d say Conan O’Brien is like an unpredictable boss battle. He’s always ready to crack jokes and keep things light, whether it’s during his Hot Ones interview or just about anywhere else. Yet, beneath that humorous exterior, he’s a seasoned veteran in the entertainment industry, having been around for decades. He knows exactly how to navigate and excel in such an energetic environment like the one we see him in.
