Rohit Shetty calls new actors ‘insecure people’; claims 90% of social media followers are paid: ‘When Salman Khan’s movies…’

As a seasoned lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that Rohit Shetty’s words resonate deeply with me. Having witnessed the rise and fall of many stars over the years, it is evident that the path to success lies not in social media popularity but in real-world talent and dedication.

Right now, Rohit Shetty is enjoying the triumph of his latest film, Singham Again. Throughout his career, this director has collaborated with popular ’90s actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Sanjay Dutt in various projects. More recently, Rohit criticized some newer actors who he thinks are insecure, stating that a large portion of their social media followers are actually paid. Reminiscing about the past, Rohit also recalled an instance when Salman Khan joined the Sunny Deol-led film, Jeet, even when his own films weren’t doing well.

In a fresh conversation with Mukesh Chhabra, casting director for Mashable India, Rohit Shetty expressed his viewpoint about emerging talents. He believes they should venture out into the real world rather than being confined to social media. According to Shetty, 90% of followers and articles are “paid for” and won’t benefit their careers after two years. The director emphasized that aspiring actors should demonstrate their skills on the silver screen instead.

In discussing advice for the upcoming generation of filmmakers, he emphasized that no job, whether large or small, should be viewed insignificantly. Instead, aspiring actors should trust and follow their own beliefs and convictions.

Later on, Rohit Shetty referenced Salman Khan’s choice to accept a lesser screen presence in Raj Kanwar’s 1996 film “Jeet.

In a moment when Salman Khan’s films weren’t successful, he collaborated with Sunny Deol on the project “Jeet.” He took on this role primarily as a stepping stone for his career advancement, and he viewed it as such. This characteristic in stars is increasingly rare, according to Shetty.

For those who are new to this, the movie “Jeet” proved successful at the box office upon its release in 1996. The film featured Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor in prominent roles, with Salman Khan portraying Karisma’s on-screen spouse. Following “Jeet”, Salman went on to star in numerous hits such as Judwaa, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, and many more.

It’s worth mentioning that Rohit Shetty and Salman Khan are working together on their next film, titled Mission Chulbul Singham. You might recall that Salman briefly appeared in the movie Singham Returns.

In terms of professional endeavors, Salman Khan is currently preparing for his role in AR Murugadoss’ upcoming film titled Sikandar. This action-packed movie also features Rashmika Mandanna, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Babbar and others. The release date has been set for Eid 2025.
