As a long-time viewer of Dancing With The Stars, I must admit that the Instant Dance Challenge was a novel concept that had its flaws. From my perspective, having been hooked on this show for years and following the dancers’ journeys closely, it seemed to add an unnecessary layer of stress to the competition.
In simpler terms, the 500th episode of “Dancing With The Stars” highlighted its successful journey heading into the upcoming Fall TV season. However, one part of the show, the Instant Dance Challenge, could have been more engaging. I previously expressed my opinion that this concept was daring, but I found it fell short in a few aspects. But what about Witney Carson, a professional dancer on “DWTS”? How did she feel about it?
Carson smoothly navigated a chat with TopMob prior to gearing up for the semifinals of Season 33 alongside her dance partner, Danny Amendola, who happens to be a former NFL star. Earlier in our discussion with Brandon Armstrong and Chandler Kinney, it became clear that some contestants were anxious about the Instant Dance Challenge. She shared insights on how this event might have affected her performance that particular night, expressing her thoughts as follows:
To put it simply, I’m an open and sporty individual who enjoys playing games. I found the show to be constantly transforming and dynamic, and that night in particular, I felt a heavy burden due to the instant dances. It was challenging to focus on the competitive dances during the week and the actual performance night because I was so anxious about the instant dances. I believe Danny [Amendola] might have sensed this tension too. As a result, I feel our performance that night wasn’t as strong as usual, perhaps due to an overall energy that affected the competitive dances for me personally.
Dancers needed to ready their famous competitors for their debut performance, as well as rehearse an additional four dances in case any were selected randomly for the Instant Dance Contest. As Witney Carson stated earlier, she believed this challenge influenced the contestants before it occurred and impacted the level of focus devoted to the initial dance.
It’s not surprising at all to hear Witney Carson admit that her and Danny Amendola ended the night with one of the lowest scores on the leaderboard, given that a month ago they were leading the pack with an impressive performance and even started a popular dance trend, which Ilona Maher attempted to copy. However, their recent lackluster performance could be due to nerves – we can only guess based on Witney’s comments.
More On Dancing With The Stars…
Could we find out if Artem Chigvintsev will be back on Dancing with the Stars, given his current situation involving a divorce and domestic dispute? Here’s what his legal representative has shared about the professional dancer’s return to the show.
In the recent episode, Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach were eliminated, even though they had led the rankings the previous week with an extraordinary Halloween dance that left viewers spellbound. This underscores the unpredictability of the final phase of the competition, suggesting that Season 33 could be one of the most challenging seasons of Dancing With The Stars in a while.
As we approach the last two episodes, it seems that anyone could potentially take the victory, yet among the top contenders I mentioned after the first episode, two of them are still in the running. However, I wouldn’t go so far as to say they have a greater chance at winning compared to others. Still, Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong seem to be in a position where they could easily lose their lead, considering their consistent presence near the top of the leaderboard throughout the season. With the unpredictable nature of judging swings this season, it’s still premature to make any definitive statements about who will ultimately win.
On Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, you can catch “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC and Disney+. I’m really looking forward to the semifinals since there won’t be an Instant Dance Challenge. Here’s hoping all the contestants give their best performance and make it to the finale!
