As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours navigating the digital battlefields of online forums and social media platforms, I can’t help but draw parallels between the current political landscape and the world of video games.
Sunny Hostin, a co-host on The View, has criticized Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, hosts of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, for spending the weekend at Mar-a-Lago to meet with President-elect Donald Trump.
In essence, America requires an independent press that isn’t afraid to challenge authority, especially in these critical times. It’s crucial to maintain objectivity when reporting about the President-elect. I don’t believe one needs a lengthy meeting at Mar-a-Lago or any form of submission to have the courage to tell the truth and cover a story effectively,” Hostin stated on the daytime talk show on Monday, as per a clip shared by ABC on X, formerly Twitter.
On Monday, they began their MSNBC show by revealing their visit to Florida to interact with Trump, and at the same time, they admitted that his overwhelming victory significantly impacted their decision-making process. (Paraphrased)
Hostin acknowledged that Scarborough and Brzezinski are known as “opinion journalists,” not traditional reporters. However, she pointed out: “It’s important to recall that Trump was the one who popularized fake news and alternative facts. He has also targeted three Black female journalists, revoked press credentials from a journalist, and even attacked them. This President-elect seems to prefer only Fox News coverage, essentially wanting a state media. I fear he cannot be trusted in the same way as other presidents could be, as this is an unprecedented situation.
Joe and Mika recently paid a private visit to Donald Trump at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, which has sparked conversation among the hosts of The View.

On Mondays, Alyssa Farah Griffin (Republican) expressed appreciation for the visit of the hosts from “Morning Joe” on The View.
“Many on the left are criticizing Joe and Mika, telling them not to accept him. However, more than 75 million Americans normalized Donald Trump by electing him as President-elect Trump. It’s argued that those who oppose him should stay in their comfort zones, remain silent, and grumble about him for four years instead of engaging with him, but this strategy would be less effective. Instead, I believe it’s the right approach to engage with Donald Trump, have conversations with him, interview him, and even hope that decent individuals work under his administration.
However, non-supporter of Donald Trump, Anna Navarro, joined Hostin in criticizing the “Morning Joe” hosts for their visit. She stated, “In 2016, people voted for someone they didn’t know, hoping that perhaps the weight of the office would transform him.
2024 saw Navarro stating that Americans re-elected Trump as president, fully aware of his previous U.S. leadership record. In essence, she said, whatever actions Trump takes, even if concerning or disturbing, should not come as a surprise because he had openly promised to act in this manner and was backed by the people he appointed. Essentially, Navarro argued, Trump is staying true to his word, and that’s what the voters opted for.
Navarro stated that she wasn’t anticipating a visit to Mar-a-Lago in the near future. She explained, “In reality, as we understand here at this table, it’s challenging to criticize and condemn Donald Trump’s misuse of power while he is President. We’ve been through this before. It involves threats, death threats, and repercussions against your loved ones,” she reasoned.
On a different note, Sara Haines, another co-host on “The View”, echoed her support for the hosts of “Morning Joe” regarding their reconciliation with Trump. As she put it, “I completely agree that it was the right move. They work at MSNBC, and I don’t want only Fox viewers to be the ones watching them.” This statement came after Fox News resolved a billion-dollar defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems following the 2020 U.S. election.
What’s unique about this network is that they’ve had to shell out billions due to their mistakes. It’s crucial not just Fox supporters have access to him; everyone should, Haines emphasized.
