To witness such a star-studded gathering, with legends like Demi Moore, Julianne Moore, and Tilda Swinton gracing the stage, is an experience that transcends the boundaries of my gaming avatar.
At its annual Women in Hollywood gathering on Tuesday, she honored a stellar cast of distinguished actresses, including Danielle Deadwyler, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Julianne Moore, Saoirse Ronan, Zoe Saldaña and Tilda Swinton, for their remarkable artistic and cultural accomplishments.
The evening saw several prominent hosts emerge. Cameron Diaz spoke to the Emilia Pérez group consisting of Gomez, Saldaña, and Gascón, while John David Washington addressed Deadwyler and Willem Dafoe conversed with Madison. Rita Wilson, Rosie O’Donnell, and Melanie Griffith united to present to Moore, signifying a reunion of their 1995 film “Now and Then”.
Taking the stage inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Moore recalled how “Now and Then was more than just a film to me, it was an adventure; it was a sweet story about friendship, resilience and navigating the ups and downs of life together. And here we are, fucking 30 years later, still standing side by side.”
Reflecting on our shared history and anticipating more to come, the star joked, “Surely someone is wondering if we could revisit or continue the story of ‘Now and Then’, perhaps as ‘Now and Again’. What do you say? Let’s discuss this later, after all.” This was met with laughter from the audience.
Apart from Ronan, there’s a special bond she shares with her co-star, Carey Mulligan. Last year, she was deeply moved by Mulligan’s portrayal in the film “Maestro“, expressing her admiration by stating, “It’s no overstatement to say that I was transformed after watching your performance.” Ronan confessed that she sent a rather emotional voice message to Mulligan following the movie screening, and emphasized, “I eagerly await the opportunity to collaborate with you on a project, as I believe working alongside you will only enhance my acting skills. There’s still so much I yearn to learn from you. You are truly unique, Mulligan.
At the event, Nina Garcia, Elle editor-in-chief, began with an opening speech. Later in the evening, renowned director Pedro Almodóvar addressed the crowd, presenting to his stars of the movie “The Room Next Door,” namely Moore and Swinton. The prestigious guest list also featured Ariana Greenblatt, Colman Domingo, Eva Longoria, Helen Hunt, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Joshua Jackson, Justine Lupe, KiKi Layne, Monica Barbaro, Niecy Nash, Ryan Destiny, Samantha Hanratty, Selma Blair, Sophie Thatcher, Whitney Cummings, and Xochitl Gomez.
