'Superman' Trailer Reportedly Set to Release in Mid-December

As a movie buff with over three decades of experience under my belt and having witnessed the rise and fall of numerous superheroes on the silver screen, I can confidently say that James Gunn’s Superman is shaping up to be one for the books. With a cast as stellar as David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and even Frank Grillo himself, it’s hard not to get excited about this Man of Steel reboot.

The eagerly awaited superhero film by James Gunn, titled Superman, may not keep fans waiting for long as the first teaser is almost ready. Although it’s scheduled to hit theaters in summer 2025, preparations for the teaser have been ongoing for several months now and are officially complete. If recent news is accurate, we might catch a glimpse of David Corenswet as Superman on both big screens and digital platforms during this year’s holiday season.

The Collider exclusively hints that the new Superman trailer might premiere around mid-December, with a possible showing before Mufasa: The Lion King in cinemas. This suggests the potential release period could fall between December 15 and 20, although it may be previewed online prior to its theater debut. However, it’s important to note that this information hasn’t been officially verified yet, even by director James Gunn himself. Yet, his silence on the matter might indicate a degree of truth, without jinxing anything, obviously. Fans had initially hoped for its release at CCXP in early December, but more recently, Gunn confirmed that the DC Studios CEOs would not attend the convention.

Given that we’ve known about the completion of the Superman trailer for some time, it’s not surprising that it will be released by the end of the year, as earlier predicted. What remains uncertain is whether it will be a full-length trailer or just a brief teaser, similar to the initial Barbie trailer. Regardless, Gunn’s crafted sneak peek will have high standards to meet due to the anticipation created by previous Superman movie trailers, such as Man of Steel. If the filmmaker manages to reignite our excitement and optimism for a man in red tights and a cape, then his mission will be accomplished.

Although the Superman trailer is not out yet, that hasn’t stopped select people from reacting to the highly-anticipated release. Frank Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr. in both Superman and Creature Commandos, recently revealed that he had already seen the teaser thanks to James Gunn. Of course, he does not give any specific details about the footage, but does share his initial reaction to viewing it. Suffice it to say, we’re all hoping we’re just as excited as Grillo was while watching the Superman trailer.

“I’m not joking, and I’m not blowing this out of proportion,
my skin was hot and I had goosebumps. That’s how great it is.

Besides David Corenswet, Grillo, Rachel Brosnahan, María Gabriela De Faría, Edi Gathegi, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Sara Sampaio, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Skyler Gisondo, Anthony Carrigan, Wendell Pierce, Beck Bennett, and Sean Gunn are also part of the Superman cast. While fans have had a glimpse of the DC Universe characters in Superman due to set photos, it’s unlikely we will see much footage in the upcoming teaser. However, if Sean Gunn is feeling festive and wants to share a generous sneak peek, we certainly wouldn’t object!
