JJJJound Debuts Duo of New Balance 993 Collaborations

As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for streetwear, I must say these JJJJound x New Balance 993 collaborations have got me buzzing like a level-up notification! The earthy color schemes and minimalist design are right up my alley – it’s like they took the aesthetic of my favorite pixelated landscapes and brought them to life on a sneaker.

At JJJJound headquarters, ideas about footwear collaborations never stop flowing – and the latest development in their ongoing partnership with New Balance has been unveiled! Based in Montreal, this brand has now introduced two versions of the 993 model, continuing their earthy brown/olive color scheme. Unlike previous full-scale collaborative overhauls, these new designs represent a fresh interpretation of colors used in past projects such as the 2018 990v3, 2020 992, 2022 990v3, and 2023’s 991. They are built on a new foundation while maintaining JJJJound’s distinctive aesthetic.

One design emphasizes its upper with two-tone white and beige midsoles, adding a striking silver tongue, while the other adopts a darker, more subdued appearance consistent with the previously released 2022 version of the 990v3. The primary alteration to the silhouette, as far as JJJJound is concerned, lies in a subtle reinterpretation of the tongue branding. Typically, a 993 sports two lines of text that read “New Balance” and “Made in USA”. However, here there’s only a single “Made in USA” line that has been moved to the top of the tongue, creating a small gap between it and the standard window displaying the shoe’s model name above the laces.

As I write this, the pair of collaborative projects have not been scheduled for release just yet. But keep an eye out, as they should become available within a few weeks. I’ll share additional details as soon as they become accessible.
