As a die-hard Marvel fan who has been following the cinematic universe since its inception, I must admit that the recent ups and downs have been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From the sheer brilliance of “Endgame” to the underwhelming performance of “The Marvels,” the MCU has certainly had its fair share of peaks and valleys.
The Marvel Universe is consistently growing, as productions are releasing not only in cinemas but also on Disney+. Fans who have followed the series chronologically have started to express some disappointment as a few projects didn’t live up to expectations. When asked about future Marvel films, Kevin Feige expressed optimism regarding the recovery of two underperforming superhero groups, and I was taken aback by his statement.
Following the release of “Avengers: Endgame,” the Marvel Cinematic Universe has experienced a mix of highs and lows, with films like “The Marvels” and “Eternals” falling short commercially. Previous projects that faced similar challenges include the series “The Inhumans.” During an interview with CinePop at D23 Brasil, Kevin Feige shared a surprisingly optimistic outlook, expressing confidence in these titles by stating:
We’re extremely pleased with the Eternals and their cast is simply phenomenal; it would be quite fortunate if we could work with any of them again someday. As for the Inhumans, you may recall Black Bolt’s brief appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and we’ll see about their potential return when and if the opportunity arises.
Here it is. Although these two projects have gained some notoriety within the Marvel Cinematic Universe fanbase, it seems that Kevin Feige is considering linking them to potential future plans for the multiverse. We can only speculate when or if this may happen.
There has been speculation among fans over the past few years about whether there would be a sequel for the film, Eternals, given its expansive storyline. However, in July, Feige stated that there were no plans for another Eternals movie. Recently, he expressed pride in Chloé Zhao’s work and mentioned a potential desire to revisit the group of characters at some point in the future. But a timeline for such a project remains unclear.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but reflect on the profound ending of “Eternals” and its potential impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, it seems that in the years following the film’s release, many of the storylines hinted at have yet to unfold.
Previously, The Inhumans made their appearance on television before Disney+ became home to their shows, and unfortunately didn’t garner the success fans expected. Therefore, it came as a surprise when Black Bolt, one of The Inhumans, appeared in “Doctor Strange 2” as part of The Illuminati. Unfortunately, he was eventually slain by the Scarlet Witch.
As a gamer, I can’t help but wonder when we might see the Inhumans and Eternals back in action within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although it seems like their own standalone projects are on hold for now, there’s a chance they could make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers movies directed by the Russo Brothers. Specifically, starting with “Avengers: Doomsday,” speculation is rife that the films will delve into the multiverse, and who knows what surprises that might bring? So, while I can’t say for certain, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an epic reunion!
Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, titled “Captain America: A New World Dawns“, will be in theaters from February 14th. In the meantime, take a look at the scheduled release dates for movies in 2025.
