Mary

Stream on December 6

Mary narrates a profound biblical story, portraying the mother of Jesus Christ during his divine manifestation and nativity. In her youth, Mary resided in Nazareth with her parents, Anne (Hilla Vidor) and Joachim (Ori Pfeffer). Her life was about to take an unexpected turn as she was betrothed to Joseph (Ido Tako), a man who was essentially unknown to her. Subsequently, an angel appeared to her, revealing that she would bear the son of God.

In spite of being engaged, Mary’s miraculous conception necessitates her concealment. Accompanying her is Joseph, as they both strive to find a safe haven. Upon the arrival of Jesus, whispers about his lineage challenge King Herod’s (Anthony Hopkins) authority, causing him to issue an order for the Slaughter of the Innocents – a horrifying event where countless babies are slain. Forced to escape, Mary, Joseph, and Jesus seek refuge in Egypt. A tale that beautifully portrays love above all else, Mary is essentially a moving coming-of-age story suitable for viewers of all faiths. Mary will be available for streaming on Dec. 6.

The Six Triple Eight

Stream on December 20

Under the direction of Tyler Perry, the film titled “The Six Triple Eight” is a gripping war drama that focuses on the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, an extraordinary all-female and all-black battalion during World War II. This unit’s story is derived from a 2019 article by Kevin M. Hymel in WWII History magazine. The movie recounts the true tale of this unique Women’s Army Corps unit of color, who made an indispensable contribution to the war effort despite facing discrimination and navigating an alien country amidst a colossal global conflict. Their mission was to clear a three-year backlog of mail for soldiers fighting far from home.

6 months before the internet and GPS, an astonishing team of 855 courageous and gifted women took up the challenge to deliver 17 million letters across the nation, bringing solace and hope to our war-stricken frontlines during a time when America desperately needed it. You can watch their inspiring story unfold on December 20th, in the movie Six Triple Eight.
