As a seasoned gamer and horror manga enthusiast with a soft spot for the macabre and mysterious, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the sight of this Junji Ito x Weber Tomie collaboration. Having grown up on a steady diet of Ito’s chilling tales, it’s an absolute treat to see one of my favorite artists’ work brought to life in such a unique and stylish manner.
Weber is commemorating Junji Ito’s horror manga series Tomie with a new collaboration.
The assortment includes two T-shirts adorned with iconic images from the initial and sequel editions of “Tomie.” These graphics maintain Ito’s original enchanting aesthetic, color scheme, and atmosphere through traditional silkscreen printing. Notably, the “Tomie” logo font deviates from the series’ typical style, and the artist himself has personally signed the shirt collars.
On the 28th of November, Ito is planning to host a live drawing event at the Rose Bakery situated on the seventh floor of Dover Street Market Ginza. Regrettably, applications for participation have already been finalized. However, spectators will have an opportunity to view the artwork produced during the event, as it will be displayed in the store starting from the 30th of November.
On November 30, you’ll have a chance to pre-purchase the joint work between Junji Ito and Weber titled “Tomie,” which will be located on the sixth floor of Dover Street Market Ginza. Starting December 1, it can also be bought from the Weber webstore for approximately ¥11,000 JPY or around $70 USD.
