Niles' Story On 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Just Got Wilder With Mr. Arc, But I Wonder If He Can Trust His 'Father'

As a seasoned gamer of reality TV shows and a dedicated fan of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, I must confess that the antics of Niles Valentine and his Ghanaian fiancée Matilda Nti in this season of Before The 90 Days have kept me on the edge of my seat. This latest episode, “The Dark Is Rising,” has certainly not disappointed.

It appears that Niles Valentine is struggling to manage the details of the ceremony, even more so after convincing Matilda Nti to delay their wedding. The character from 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Day encountered another hurdle in the ceremony when he discovered he needed a family to stand in for him during the ceremony to ask for his Ghanaian fiancee’s hand in marriage. Fortunately, Matilda had a trusted friend named Mr. Arc who consented to act as Niles’ Ghanaian “father,” but it remains to be seen if Niles can rely on him.

This plotline has me anxiously waiting for the 2025 TV lineup, as I’m secretly hoping that Mr. Arc will be featured in next year’s season of 90 Day Fiancé. Let’s delve deeper into this new character and discuss why I find myself growing suspicious about his role in the upcoming wedding ceremony.

Mr. Arc Was Brought In To Play Niles’ “Father” For The Knocking Ceremony

Earlier it was noted that the traditional knocking ceremony required family presence. Since Niles’ relatives couldn’t attend due to their absence, Matilda proposed he seek help from a village elder, Mr. Arc, who could stand in as his father and instruct him on Ghanaian customs. She cautioned Niles about Mr. Arc, stating that she may not have fully conveyed the extent of his peculiarities.

In my opinion, Mr. Arc seemed overly zealous in assuming the role of Niles’ father. Without delay, he scolded Niles for neglecting to visit him before speaking with Matilda’s relatives, and moreover, he criticized Niles for disregarding his advice on the preparations for the ceremony.

Although his participation was casual, it still displeased him to learn that the wedding was delayed, as this went against traditional Ghanaian practices. He serves as an unusual and entertaining character in Before The 90 Days Season 7, but I believe Mr. Arc had a moment of forgetfulness, thinking he was Niles’ true father.

Does Mr. Arc’s Association With Matilda’s Family Make Him A Bad Fit For This Role?

I recall encountering some awkward conversations between Brian Muniz and his sister about personal matters earlier this season, which felt quite typical given their dynamic as father and daughter. However, it’s important to note that in the context of this show, Mr. Arc behaves toward Niles as if he were his father throughout the episode, despite having only met him in person that day. If this were a scripted sitcom plot, it might make sense, but in real life, such quick emotional bonds aren’t usually formed so easily.

At its most comfortable, it seems strange, but there’s a concern that it might intentionally be manipulative, pushing Niles into actions he’d rather avoid.

Niles' Story On 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Just Got Wilder With Mr. Arc, But I Wonder If He Can Trust His 'Father'

The narrative of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days featuring Chidi and Rayne was initially complicated, but there’s a chance that Chidi could find happiness in the end.

It’s a little unsettling to observe Mr. Arc’s puzzling actions, especially considering that Niles shared his struggles with autism have escalated since being in Ghana. While Arc seems to offer sound advice at times, some of his other actions like pushing for an immediate wedding raise suspicions. It appears he might be exploiting someone who may not fully understand all the complex information being thrown at him.

In this journey, it’s important to recall that Matilda harbors a desire to wed and Mr. Arc is a family acquaintance. Although I wish to believe his motives are genuine, there’s a lingering doubt if he might be advocating for her and the family’s welfare, subtly influencing Niles in the process, to assist individuals he is familiar with. I sincerely hope this isn’t the case, but I’ll need to continue watching “90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days” Season 7 to discover how this narrative unfolds.
