When asked about cutscenes in specific, one of the devs replied,

It’s roughly 3 hours and 40-45 minutes or something along those lines. It’s a lot.”

MachineGames primarily focuses on developing games within the Wolfenstein intellectual property, along with three iterations of the Quake series, one of them being quite modern, and an additional playable episode for the original Doom 2.

By far this is the biggest and longest game that MachinesGames has ever done.”

A game often associated with extended cutscenes is Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, which, as far as I know, clocks in at around 7 hours of total cutscene duration.

The first-person camera perspective is one thing that has been turning many people off about Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. I personally think it could add a new level of immersion to the whole experience; so does the director of the studio. It’s also been observed that the title will feature dynamic gameplay sequences that switch between first- and third-person on the fly.

In their own words, MachineGames’ game director, Jerk Gustafsson, shared that first-person gameplay is deeply ingrained in their studio, and they aimed to exploit this aspect to generate a highly engaging experience by placing players within the footsteps of history’s most renowned archaeologist. This unique approach differentiates our game from numerous action-adventure titles, offering an exceptional, one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t find anywhere else.

Indiana Jones’ latest adventure, titled “The Great Circle,” is set to touch down on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms on December 9, 2024. Additionally, it will be available for PlayStation 5 users next year as well.
