As a dedicated fan of Shondaland and their groundbreaking storytelling, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the promotion of Sandie Bailey and Chris DiIorio to co-presidents! Their combined experience and dedication to the company align perfectly with Shonda Rhimes’ vision for the future.
Shondaland, the media firm run by Shonda Rhimes, has appointed Sandie Bailey and Chris DiIorio as joint presidents.
After Megha Tolia’s departure in December, which marks her three-year tenure as both President and COO of Shondaland, her responsibilities will be passed on to a new pair. Megha is choosing to resign to devote more attention to her family.
As the CEO of Shondaland, I’ve found no better partners in my journey than Sandie and Chris. Their combined experience spanning over 20 years across our company’s various aspects is truly invaluable, and I am thrilled to see their expanded leadership roles as we move forward in expanding Shondaland. I want to take a moment to thank Megha for her exceptional work over the past three years. Her dedication has been instrumental, and I wish her nothing but success as she focuses on spending quality time with her family.
In her own statement, Tolia expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards Shonda and her team at Shondaland for the fantastic three years she spent with the company. She’s excited to support them as they carry on creating captivating narratives and entertaining people all around the world without fear.
As part of our team at Shondaland, I, alongside Bailey, carry on in my roles as the Chief Innovation and Design Officer, and DiIorio takes up the position as the Chief Marketing Officer – both of us maintaining our responsibilities beyond our co-presidency titles.
In our celebration of the 20th anniversary year of Shondaland, we feel privileged to have been a continuous contributor to the narrative. We are thrilled about what’s coming next and eagerly anticipate guiding Shondaland towards the future.
Bailey kicked off her career at Shondaland by working on set decoration for the show Scandal. She then spearheaded the launch of Shondaland Audio, a partnership with iHeartMedia in 2019. Currently, she manages the design of the company and is responsible for all digital media productions from Shondaland.
Back in 2016, I hopped aboard this awesome ride, having spent almost a full decade as Shonda Rhimes’ personal PR rep at the powerhouse firm PMK-BNC. Fast forward to early 2022, and I got promoted to the big leagues – now I’m the Chief Marketing Officer!
Shondaland, a production company with a comprehensive agreement at Netflix, is responsible for hit shows like Bridgerton and the upcoming title The Residence, as well as the 2022 limited series Inventing Anna. This company was founded by Shonda Rhimes in 2005, coincidentally the year her show Grey’s Anatomy debuted on ABC. This long-running hospital drama is now airing its 21st season.
