As a seasoned wrestling enthusiast with over three decades of fandom under my belt, I must say this card is shaping up to be quite the spectacle! The matches are brimming with intrigue and potential surprises that’ll keep us on our toes.
It’s been a bit slow in putting together the Survivor Series event, but now it’s shaping up nicely, offering plenty of reasons to look forward to it. Three titles are at stake, along with two full War Games matches, both of which seem set to have significant impact on our storylines as we approach WrestleMania. Considering its past struggles to establish a clear identity over the last 30-odd years, that’s quite impressive for a PPV event.
It’s clear that the main event revolves around the reunited original Bloodline members. While many thought Seth Rollins might join them, recent events have brought Paul Heyman back to TV after a long absence, accompanied by CM Punk, setting up a balance against the newly expanded Bloodline led by Solo Sikoa, who has recently recruited Bronson Reed. The outcome of this match could provide valuable insights into Roman Reigns’ and others’ plans for their WrestleMania showdown.
The women’s War Games match, initially perceived as a showcase event featuring most of the top female wrestlers, has evolved into a mystery following Jade Cargill’s attack. Bayley is set to take her place, but the identity of the attacker could shape significant plotlines over the coming months. We might uncover the truth at Survivor Series.
Additionally, you’ll find that we have three crucial title battles coming up. I have some thoughts about the possible outcomes for each, yet before we delve into that, let me share with you my recent track record in forecasting…
LA Knight (Champ) Vs Shinsuke Nakamura For The United States Championship
It’s great that LA Knight is defending his US Championship on a PLE, but the anticipation for this match hasn’t been fully ignited yet. Nakamura appeared a few weeks ago and has been harassing Knight since then, but the back-and-forth exchanges haven’t been sufficient to spark excitement among fans, including myself. I’m still adjusting to the news of Nakamura’s return, let alone looking forward to him challenging for the US Championship.
From what I can see, it seems quite likely that Knight will keep his position for now. While it’s not completely certain that he’ll maintain the title until ‘Mania, considering his popularity, it would make sense if he were to lose it. However, that loss should ideally be to someone with a significant momentum and a well-prepared storyline leading up to the match. In this scenario, neither of those conditions have been met, suggesting Knight will likely retain for the time being.
As a passionate gamer, I can’t hide my enthusiasm when it comes to Shinsuke. The moment WWE unveiled his fresh set of vignettes and granted him the freedom to speak in Japanese, I was on cloud nine. I had high hopes that they would truly elevate him when he made a comeback for some bouts against Seth Rollins last year, but it turned out to be a disappointing feast for Rollins instead. Now, it appears as if he’s destined to face Knight and might vanish once more from the ring.
Predicted Winner: LA Knight
Bron Breakker (Champion) Vs Sheamus Vs Ludwig Kaiser For The Intercontinental Championship
Three promising contenders climbing the ranks, an established champion seeking redemption, and a match that’s been brewing for months – it seems like a perfect setup for a Triple Threat Match for The Intercontinental Championship! This exciting encounter was recently announced for the Survivor Series card during Monday Night Raw. Although there have been some delays, this rivalry has been growing steadily. They’ve interfered in each other’s matches, traded passionate promos, and kept their eyes on The IC Championship for quite some time now.
It’s quite plausible that any of these three individuals could emerge victorious. Ludwig Kaiser was emphatically encouraged by Gunther to forge his own path and achieve personal success. A victory here would significantly advance this objective, aligning him with his long-standing companion who currently holds the World Heavyweight Championship title. Furthermore, it seems like we’re hearing praise from wrestling legends about Kaiser every week. The Undertaker spoke highly of him earlier this year, and CM Punk recently identified him as someone he’d be interested in collaborating with. His future certainly looks promising.
Without a doubt, Sheamus’ case for winning the Intercontinental Championship is quite apparent, as it’s the only major title in WWE that he hasn’t claimed yet. He has won every other belt and achieved success at numerous gimmick pay-per-views. It’s likely that he will eventually win this championship, causing a massive cheer from fans who are eager to celebrate his many accomplishments. However, is now the ideal time to grant him the title?
Apart from him, there’s Bron Breakker, often referred to as a potential headliner for future WrestleManias. As the IC Champion, he’s been keeping audiences intrigued with his role as a sort of character straddling the line between villain and hero. When he initially claimed the title, I thought he might keep it for an extended period like Gunther, but he relinquished it and then regained it amidst a rivalry with Jey Uso. Who knows if this pattern could repeat itself?
Among these three contenders, any of them could potentially emerge victorious. However, at this point, I don’t believe Kaiser is quite prepared enough for victory. As for Sheamus, I suspect his title win will come during a more significant moment. Therefore, my prediction is that Bron will retain the belt for now.
Predicted Winner: Bron Breakker.
Gunther (Champion) Vs Damian Priest For The World Heavyweight Championship
Generally speaking, while making these forecasts, my focus tends to shift away from the past (even though it’s significant) and more towards anticipating the narrative WWE might prefer to unfold in the near future. If a certain individual emerges victorious, what kind of plotlines does that open up? Are those storylines potentially more intriguing compared to the ones that could arise from the other person winning? Regarding Gunther and Damian Priest, I can envision two quite contrasting narratives. Let’s delve into these possibilities.
As a die-hard WWE fan, if Damian Priest takes the victory, it’s not impossible considering the electrifying response he’s been getting from the crowd, especially outside of his WrestleMania moment. This win would undeniably establish him as a main event player within the WWE. It could spark a rivalry with a heavyweight like Drew McIntyre or even Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship. Additionally, it might push Gunther into a crisis of confidence storyline. Priest has already been questioning Gunther’s prowess, and a loss here would mark his second straight PPV defeat and third in six matches. Perhaps he’ll regroup and promise to win the Royal Rumble to prove he’s still got what it takes.
If Gunther takes the victory, I’ve got no doubt that his self-assuredness will only grow stronger. This match will undoubtedly reinforce his dominance, and in future promos, he might even amplify that aura of invincibility. Should he clinch the title, I predict he’ll hold onto it all the way to WrestleMania, squaring off against someone like John Cena in a David vs Goliath narrative – a towering heel who everyone believes is unbeatable. Meanwhile, Priest might find himself slipping slightly from the main event spotlight, but there are plenty of worthy opponents for him to square off against in his next feud.
After Gunther’s impressive run of victories ever since his entry into the main roster, it’s hard for me to bet against him in this match. However, the level of popularity that Damian Priest has achieved is remarkable enough to introduce a bit of uncertainty.
Predicted Winner: Gunther
Nia Jax, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Tiffany Stratton And Candice LeRae vs Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Naomi And Bayley
Initially, this seemed like a traditional Survivor Series-style brawl between randomly selected good guys (babyfaces) and bad guys (heels). It’s reminiscent of the Hulkamaniacs versus The Heenan Family, fighting merely for their passion for wrestling. However, things became more intriguing after Jade Cargill was suddenly assaulted. Many spectators believe the assailant is someone from her previous babyface team, leaving us wondering if they’ll attack another contestant or sabotage their teammates during the match. Keep an eye out for these possible betrayals.
It’s possible that another person not involved in this match could have targeted Jade Cargill, and if so, they might make an appearance here. While Charlotte Flair seems the most plausible candidate, Becky Lynch could also pop up unexpectedly. This could lead either woman into a heated rivalry with Bianca Belair, who’d be inclined to protect her ally. Alternatively, it could set up a conflict between the mysterious attacker and Jade if she recovers sooner than anticipated.
Regardless, all these scenarios point to the heels winning. Add that to the fact that both current women’s champions are on the heel side and the fact that we’ve seen everyone on the heels side get along super well in the lead up, and I’m confident we’re probably going to see a heel victory here (provided there’s not any shadiness with Tiffany’s Money In The Bank contract).
Predicted Winner: The Heels.
Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn And CM Punk Vs Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jacob Fatu and Bronson Reed
If the contest is simple, it’s likely that the heroes will emerge victorious. Roman suffered a pin at the hands of Solo during the six-person tag team match at Crown Jewel. It’s crucial to bolster the villains, but overly weakening Roman and his allies isn’t advisable. They need to maintain their strong image. Moreover, WWE wouldn’t want CM Punk, fresh from landing a significant TV role, to appear weak, especially since he’s now on the side of the good guys as well.
But there’s also the possibility this isn’t going to be a straightforward match. We know Seth Rollins and Bronson Reed are still involved in this banger of a feud, and Seth has longstanding problems with Roman and Punk too. We know The Rock may return at some point, and it seems likely he’ll side with the bad guys when he does. There are a lot of theories going around that Paul Heyman might betray Roman, since the OTC apparently didn’t check on him a single time after his injury. There’s also lingering tension between Roman and Punk. A lot could go wrong.
Among all matches, this one is the hardest for me to predict an outcome, but I’ll go with the underdogs emerging victorious. This result would level the playing field and offer WWE numerous possibilities on how they can continue the narrative in the following episodes.
Predicted Winner: The OG Bloodline + CM Punk
