It seems Roman Reigns could now be seen as one of the heroes in professional wrestling, but with his long journey towards the historic WWE Championship, he’s accumulated quite a few adversaries. Indeed, some of these opponents are even amongst his fellow competitors scheduled for the five-on-five match at the upcoming Survivor Series: WarGames event by the WWE.
For years, I’ve been a dedicated wrestling fan, accumulating countless hours watching exhilarating matches filled with unexpected heel turns, emotional double-crosses, and payback moments. My prediction is that at WarGames, someone will betray Roman Reigns, but who could it be? Could it be Paul Heyman, the shrewd advisor of The Original Tribal Chief? Or perhaps Jimmy Uso, his cousin? Perhaps a formidable opponent will return to take him down? Let me analyze the possibilities.
Paul Heyman
Could it be that Paul Heyman, a 2024 WWE Hall of Famer, might be turning on Roman Reigns? That seems unlikely, but let’s consider the facts. Despite being Reigns’ trusted advisor for more than four years, Heyman has a history of betraying those he represents. He turned against CM Punk at Money in the Bank 2013 and later allied with Brock Lesnar, whom he betrayed twice – first at the 2012 Royal Rumble and then again in 2022. This pattern holds true for many of his long-term clients. So, while it’s Reigns and Heyman today, history suggests that anything could happen in the world of WWE.
As SmackDown concluded, just one episode prior to Survivor Series: WarGames, Heyman sported a sinister expression as he fixed his gaze on Reigns and the returning CM Punk in the ring. He then winked subtly at Jimmy Uso. This interaction might seem innocent between friends, but given my familiarity with Heyman, I’m not inclined to take him at face value…
Jimmy Uso
Jimmy Uso, who received a suggestive wink from Paul Heyman, has consistently stood by Roman Reigns’ side, going through challenging times, humiliation, and some severe beatings as Reigns’ right-hand man. However, his seemingly unwavering loyalty to the original Bloodline could be misleading. I can’t help but speculate that he might be the one to betray Reigns with a powerful superkick, surpassing the intensity of Shawn Michaels’ infamous attack on Marty Jannetty through the Barber Shop window.
He could be fed up from years of abuse, or he could be a mole from Solo Sikoa’s new and more ruthless Bloodline. WarGames would be the perfect time to act if the latter is the case.
The Rock
In October, The Rock made a comeback to WWE with his peculiar belt, standing off against Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes after they defeated The Bloodline. However, since then, he’s been nowhere to be found. Is this just a brief visit or is it hinting at something for Survivor Series? I strongly believe it’s the latter, and it seems likely that the Main Character will reappear in the WarGames match, aiming to take on Reigns once more to reignite their feud, which was temporarily paused so Rhodes could conclude his story at WrestleMania 40.
As the countdown to WrestleMania begins in roughly two months, and with WWE’s flagship show, Raw, shifting to Netflix a few weeks prior, we’re heading into a bustling period for the WWE. A rivalry between The Rock and Roman Reigns could generate astronomical viewership figures. Moreover, if Dwayne Johnson were to appear and betray his cousin in the most significant match since his comeback, it would be monumental!
Other Members Of The Bloodline
Apart from the three possibilities you mentioned, there’s an additional scenario: Sami Zayn might decide to betray Reigns as a way to avenge past wrongs, but I don’t foresee that happening due to the intrigue of ‘heel’ Sami. However, it wouldn’t be strategic for Jey Uso to turn on Roman because “Main Event Jey Uso” is one of the company’s top heroes at the moment, and betraying his cousin would hurt his current image and not align with his character.
While it’s tempting to imagine CM Punk turning villainous and attacking Reigns during the WarGames match, truth be told, I don’t believe that twist is necessary at this moment. Instead, it seems more plausible that Seth Rollins will make an appearance, attacking both Punk and Bronson Reed. This move could signal a turn to the dark side for Rollins, further fueling his ongoing rivalry with Reed.
