During a heartfelt conversation on After Hours with All About Eve, Kalki Koechlin shared her experiences following her initial significant career disappointment after Dev D. Although she received praise, she found herself without another film role for approximately two years, with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara being her subsequent project. In simpler terms, she explained, “After Dev D, I didn’t get another movie offer for about two years. My next movie was Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

The actress known for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani admitted that while many view her as a successful actress, she personally feels much less accomplished than others might think. She often encounters amazement when seen using public transportation, with people questioning why she doesn’t travel with a bodyguard. This, she explained, illustrates an unusual contrast between her public image and her true life.
Kalki too conceded that she has progressed significantly from her initial years in the field, and openly acknowledged that on certain occasions, she accepts work primarily for monetary gain, especially corporate jobs where the arrangement is clear-cut: her services (her presence) in exchange for payment.
Kalki Koechlin initially entered Bollywood with Dev D, a romantic dark comedy directed by Anurag Kashyap. Her acting alongside Abhay Deol received extensive acclaim.
