As a seasoned cinephile with years of comic book cinema under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Marvel film, *Thunderbolts*, is shaping up to be quite the intriguing addition to the MCU. The return of fan-favorite characters like Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and the introduction of a powerful newcomer, Sentry (Lewis Pullman), has already piqued my interest.
Besides reintroducing popular characters such as Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Yolena Belova (Florence Pugh), and Red Guardian (David Harbour), and introducing a new, powerful character, Sentry (Lewis Pullman), Thunderbolts* is also giving a second chance to one of the MCU’s less successful villains. Hannah John-Kamen reprises her role as Ghost, who had a relatively uneventful debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp. However, Ghost in Thunderbolts* is significantly different from her initial appearance.
In an interview with The Manila Times, John-Kamen shared that Ghost will undergo significant changes in the upcoming film, Thunderbolts*. Unlike her past attempts to steal Hank Pym’s research for survival in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Ghost has found a resolution to her problematic condition in Thunderbolts*, leading her to seek a new purpose. The actress put it this way: “Ghost has moved on from her previous struggles, and is now searching for a fresh objective.
The last time you encountered her, she was extremely agitated, teetering on the edge of extinction, suffering greatly. Now, however, she has gained mastery over that turmoil. This newfound control brings tranquility, determination, and a formidable presence. Indeed, you’ll find a transformed Ghost before you.
In the previews for the movie Thunderbolts, it’s shown that the main team members will clash when they’re given a deceptive mission, as someone with great influence wants them eliminated. As for Ghost, her reasons for joining the team are still unclear. However, each character seems to be seeking redemption from their questionable past. Assuming she makes it through the film, it’s expected that Ghost no longer desires to be seen as wicked and will instead become a formidable ally in the Dark Avengers.
‘Thunderbolts*’ Is Redeeming Lots of Bad Marvel Villains
In the series Thunderbolts, not only Ghost is being given another opportunity, but also several other characters who have previously been part of less-than-favorable projects. Olga Kurylenko will be returning as Taskmaster, a formidable villain from Marvel Comics known for her ability to swiftly learn and copy any superhero’s fighting style. Fans were disappointed when Taskmaster was portrayed as a silent Black Widow program pawn in the prequel, and are eagerly anticipating her return to the screen.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the upcoming movie titled “Thunderbolts*” offers Wyatt Russell’s character, John Walker, another opportunity to make a significant impact. Initially introduced as the new Captain America in the controversial Disney+ series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier“, Walker had a rough start with multiple unsuccessful missions that led some to compare him unfavorably to a Captain America one might order online from Temu. As the show concluded, Walker met with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus), hinting at his potential reappearance in “Thunderbolts*“.
As a die-hard movie buff, I can’t contain my excitement about Jake Schreier’s upcoming masterpiece, “Thunderbolts,” set to hit theaters on May 2, 2026. The identity of the villain has been shrouded in mystery, but we now know that Lewis Pullman will be portraying a character named “Bob.” While details about his powers have remained elusive in the trailers, it’s recently been hinted by David Harbour that Bob is none other than Sentry, Marvel’s troubled counterpart to Superman. Of course, sharp-eyed fans had already picked up on this tidbit!
