As a dedicated follower of Ira Khan’s journey, I find her story to be deeply moving and inspiring. Her courage to share her personal struggles with mental health and openly discuss her parents’ divorce is commendable. It’s fascinating to observe how she initially perceived her parents’ separation as having no impact on her life but later recognized the emotional turmoil it had caused.
Ira Khan, Aamir Khan’s daughter, is the founder and CEO of a Mental health support organization. She has been vocal about her struggle with Depression and raises awareness over it with her father. Recently, she discussed her parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s divorce and how she believed it didn’t affect her but later realized she was not acknowledging her feelings. She also admitted her parents always ensured she was ‘loved’ and felt ‘secure.’
In a candid conversation with TopMob, Ira Khan reflected on her childhood and shared that she initially didn’t think her parent’s separation affected her in any way. Khan explained that despite their separation, they maintained a united front for ttheir children and shielded them from conflicts.
She noted that they had never quarreled in her presence and consistently showed a harmonious facade, which led the families to maintain a strong bond throughout the ordeal. Remarkably, she found herself thinking, “I refuse to let this divorce cast a shadow over me.

As Ira matured, she began to grasp the deeper emotions this experience stirred within her. Though the divorce was amicable and peaceful, it left an emotional residue in its wake.
She noted, “Even if it ended for the better, there’s a certain amount of pain that comes with anything breaking. As a kid, I refused to acknowledge that pain.”
Despite maintaining a positive outlook, she consciously held back from fully experiencing her emotions. Her mental health advisor commented, “After discussing this with my therapist, I’ve discovered the significance of acknowledging what transpired, even though no one is at fault.
Instead, she acknowledged that her parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, played a crucial role in managing situations effectively. This was due to the fact that she held them dear for making her feel loved and secure, knowing that she could always rely on her family’s support.
In 1986, Aamir Khan wed Reena Dutta. After spending 16 years together, they parted ways in the year 2002. Their younger child, Ira Khan, was born to Aamir and Reena Dutta in 1997. In January of 2024, Ira Khan tied the knot with fitness coach Nupur Shikhare.
