As a die-hard fan who has been following The Voice since its inception, I must say that this season 26 has been a rollercoaster ride with Snoop Dogg bringing his unique charm and energy to the table. However, Tuesday’s Semifinals episode left me feeling a bit puzzled. With such a rich legacy of country music on The Voice, it was quite unexpected to only have one artist from that genre in the Top 8, let alone the finals.
Warning: This tale unveils which five artists from The Voice Season 26 proceed to the following week’s final round. If you missed the December 3rd broadcast, you can catch up by subscribing to Peacock.
Throughout The Voice’s 26th season, which concludes on next week’s TV schedule, Snoop Dogg has relied on the Gangster Holy Ghost for guidance during challenging eliminations. However, during Tuesday’s Semifinals, he appeared to be invoking a different spirit. With only one country music artist performing on Monday’s showcase, Snoop seized the moment to honor The Voice’s heritage with a powerful statement that would have resonated with Blake Shelton.
During Tuesday’s results episode, Carson Daly revealed the four artists who had garnered the most votes from viewers based on their Monday performances. These top performers were joined by the bottom four, who had one more chance to impress with the Instant Save performance. Christina Eagle, a member of Snoop Dogg’s team, found herself in this group. After her rendition of Lainey Wilson’s “Heart Like a Truck,” Snoop Dogg took the opportunity to explain to The Voice audience why they should vote for Christina. He expressed:
In this competition, there are no finalists who are country music singers, and she’s right here. I want you to continue being exceptional. Let’s maintain the authenticity, let’s keep it captivating. This show thrives on that, and we have one of the best to ever grace this stage. She’s clearly visible to you now.
Over the course of 23 seasons, Blake Shelton served as a coach on “The Voice”, with Reba McEntire taking over for the last three. Other country music mentors were also part of the journey. It’s surprising that in Season 26, only one country artist made it to the Top 8, and interestingly enough, she was on Snoop Dogg’s team!
Despite Snoop’s impassioned speech, it didn’t manage to propel Christina Eagle into the finals, an outcome that left me quite surprised. It’s rare to find no country music in the finale of The Voice, isn’t it? Remarkably, Reba McEntire almost had no artists advancing further. None of her semifinalists made it to the Top 4, which was a close call. Fortunately, the Instant Save came into play. With this turn of events, I wonder what next week’s episodes will bring. Here are your Top 5 finalists:
- Jeremy Beloate (Snoop Dogg)
- Sofronio Vasquez (Michael Bublé)
- Shye (Michael Bublé)
- Sydney Sterlace (Gwen Stefani)
- Instant Save: Danny Joseph (Reba McEntire)
Regardless of personal preference for country music, the Season 26 finale is expected to be spectacular, given that it will produce another Four-Chair Turn winner. Each contestant showcased their talent during the Blind Auditions, captivating all of the coaches.
NBC has revealed some of the artists set to perform during the two-night event, such as Kelly Clarkson, Dan + Shay, Tears For Fears, and past “The Voice” winners Huntley and Asher HaVon. However, don’t forget to tune in at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, December 9th, first to see the Top 5 artists competing for America’s vote on NBC.
