Tribe Nine, from the creator of Danganronpa, set to open pre-registration

  • Tribe Nine has opened pre-registration for Android and iOS!
  • It’s a mobile RPG featuring Danganronpa alumni Rui Komatsuzaki and Kazutaka Kodaka
  • Those who pre-register can nab an exclusive skin and other rewards

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen the rise and fall of many gaming trends, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia when I hear about Tribe Nine. The combination of Rui Komatsuzaki’s art and Kazutaka Kodaka’s creative flair in Danganronpa was truly something unique back in the day. Now, they’re teaming up again for this mobile ARPG, and as someone who’s been through more game launches than I care to remember, I can’t help but be intrigued.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but emphasize that the essence of PSP visual novel and detective thriller Danganronpa was undeniably shaped by the artistry of Rui Komatsuzaki and the visionary work of designer Kazutaka Kodaka. In case you’ve missed it, this creative duo, along with other talented individuals from the Danganronpa family, are now joining forces for Tribe Nine, a brand-new mobile ARPG! Excitingly, they have opened pre-registration on both iOS and Android platforms.

In the year 20XX, a dystopian version of Neo-Tokyo serves as the backdrop for this game, where you control a team of teenagers taking part in the lethal Extreme Games controlled by the enigmatic figure known as Zero. Registering early for Tribe Nine will grant you special rewards, including the Parallel Cypher / Y skin for the character Koishi Kohinata.

Of course, it includes the blend of intense combat and vintage flair that Kodaka and Komatsuzaki are famous for – traversing the world in a retro sprite fashion before engaging in full-blown 3D fights. Additionally, you can tinker with equipment and utilize the unique mechanic of Tension Cards to create truly individualized gameplay styles.

Play Ball!

Even though Danganronpa might seem a bit dated now, I recall it as one of the unique games that stood out among PlayStation Portable releases back then. Its blend of distinctive artwork with a murder-mystery storyline set it apart from what many expected visual novels to offer and achieve.

It’s uncertain if Tribe Nine will receive the same response due to its unique visual appeal, but given the abundance of 3D turn-based battle games available across various platforms, it must offer a distinctive experience to make an impact.
