As a dedicated fan of crime dramas with a soft spot for global success stories, I must say that the recent release of “Cross” on Prime Video has left me thoroughly impressed! With over 40 million viewers worldwide in just three weeks, it’s safe to say that this show has truly crossed borders and captured hearts across the globe.
In the three weeks since its debut, Amazon‘s Prime Video series “Cross” has attracted a massive global viewership, according to their reports.
The crime drama, featuring Aldis Hodge and inspired by James Patterson’s top-selling books, has attracted a global audience of 40 million viewers within its initial 20 days, as per internal data from Prime Video. The first season, which consists of eight episodes (and has already been approved for a second season), made its debut on November 14.
As a gamer, I can’t help but feel thrilled knowing that my favorite series, Cross, has made it to the third-highest premiere for a Prime Video series this year! Over a span of 20 days, it attracted an impressive 40 million viewers, coming in second only to Fallout (which garnered 65 million viewers in just 16 days) and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (with 40 million viewers within its first 11 days for the second season, or the first three episodes to be precise). It’s a testament to the series’ popularity and quality that it can hold its own against such heavyweights!
Amazon claims that the debut of Cross positions it among the top six Prime Video series within the initial 20 days. The first external ratings data for the series will be released next week, providing Nielsen statistics for the U.S. from November 11-17.
Approximately 55% of the audience for the show hailed from countries outside the United States. According to Amazon, Cross demonstrated exceptional success in Germany, the UK, Brazil, Canada, and Spain.
Besides Hodge, the actors Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold are also featured in this production.
Ben Watkins serves as the creator and head of the series produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Television Studios (later CBS Studios for subsequent seasons), and Skydance Television. Alongside Watkins, Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, and Craig Siebels are executive producers. Additionally, Patterson, Bill Robinson, and Patrick Santa contribute as executive producers under James Patterson Entertainment, while David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost take on this role for Skydance Television.
