Recently, the unbeaten WBA lightweight champion expressed his intentions to retire from boxing, saying, “I’ll be out of it next year. Yes, I’m quitting this sport.” When asked about his decision later, he expressed his discontent with the sport, stating, “It’s all rubbish. This is garbage, trash. I’ve had enough. I’m tired of it all.” He also shared his post-boxing aspirations, mentioning that he wants to earn money while maintaining a low profile, saying, “I just want to make money and live anonymously.” At 30 years old, Davis is recognized as one of the best boxers in the world pound-for-pound. He boasts a flawless record of 30 wins, with 28 of those victories coming via knockout.
Throughout his career, he has held titles in the featherweight and super lightweight divisions and continues to dominate at the lightweight division. While he does plan to leave in 2025, he hopes to fight three more matches before finishing his career. He is set to fight Lamont Roach, WBA super featherweight champion, on March 1. After Roach, Davis has not confirmed who he will fight next. He has previously beaten the likes of Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Léo Santa Cruz and Isaac Cruz. Some say that a rematch with Garcia might happen and potentially a fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko or Shakur Stevenson.
