Musicians at the Golden Globes: Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez Score Nominations

As a long-time fan of these incredible artists, I must say this year’s Golden Globes promises to be a musical extravaganza! With Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus competing against each other for nominations, it feels like a dream come true. I’ve been following their careers since they were teen sensations, and seeing them grow into such accomplished artists is truly inspiring.

At the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, prior to attending the Grammys, both Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus will face off in competition.

In the musical “Wicked,” Ariana Grande earned a nomination for best supporting actress performance by a female actor in any motion picture. Similarly, Selena Gomez received a nod for her role as Emilia Pérez in the same category. Additionally, Gomez gained two more nominations for her work in “Only Murders In the Building.” Lastly, Miley Cyrus is in competition for best original song, having co-written “Beautiful That Way” from “The Last Showgirl,” alongside Lykke Li and Andrew Wyatt. The trio are also recognized for their collaboration on “Shallow” from “A Star is Born,” which earned Wyatt an Oscar for co-writing.

In a more casual tone: The popular movie musical Wicked, which was a big hit at the box office, received four nominations. These included ‘Best Picture – Musical/Comedy’ and ‘Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Role’ for Cynthia Erivo, who has previously won Grammys, Emmys, and Tonys.

On Monday, other well-known musicians who received Globe nods include Maren Morris for her track “Kiss The Sky” from the movie “The Wild Robot“, and Robbie Williams for his song “Forbidden Road” from his biopic “Better Man“. The musical duo Clément Ducol and Camille garnered three music nominations for their work on “Emilia Pérez“, including best original score, as well as two nods for best original song, with “Mi Camino” and “El Mal”, which they shared with director Jacques Audiard.

This year, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who have previously won Oscars, Grammys, and Emmys, have been nominated in two categories due to their work on the project “Challengers”. They are contenders for the best original song (“Compress/Repress”) and the best original score. In the category of best original score, they will be competing against Hans Zimmer for “Dune: Part Two”, Kris Bowers for “The Wild Robot”, Daniel Blumberg for “The Brutalist”, and Volker Bertelmann for “Conclave”.

Cyrus, who received her first pair of Grammys last year for the smash hit “Flowers,” has been nominated at the February 2nd Grammys in the category of best country duo/group performance, this time alongside Beyoncé for their song “II Most Wanted.” Grande is up for three awards, among them best pop vocal album for “Eternal Sunshine.” The 82nd annual Golden Globes will be broadcast live on January 5th.

The Golden Globe Awards producer, Dick Clark Productions, is co-owned by the partnership known as Penske Media Eldridge. This collaboration, which includes both Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge, also holds the ownership of The Hollywood Reporter.
