As a longtime fan of both Selena Gomez and Sebastian Stan, I am absolutely thrilled to see them both nominated for multiple Golden Globes this year! It’s not every day that we get to witness such talent being recognized on such a grand scale.
At the 2025 Golden Globes, Selena Gomez and Sebastian Stan could experience a significant shift in their careers since they are the sole actors nominated for numerous awards.
For three years running, Gomez has been nominated again – this time for two awards. One nomination is for her exceptional acting performance as Mabel in the TV series Only Murders in the Building, categorized under best female actor in a television musical or comedy. The other nomination is for her role in the musical crime comedy film Emilia Peréz, where she’s recognized for her supporting actress performance in a motion picture.
Overwhelmed with excitement after hearing about my nominations, I couldn’t help but share a heartfelt moment on my Instagram Stories – me reacting with pure joy in bed! To express the depth of my feelings, I wrote a simple yet heartfelt caption: “Feeling so grateful and honored.
In a feature article for the Hollywood Reporter, Gomez confessed that she wasn’t ready to take on a significant role in the 2025 award season alongside Emilia Peréz. “I was really bewildered,” she expressed. “I was thinking, ‘What’s going on? Why are we doing so much right now?’ And everyone just laughed because [Emilia Pérez] is thriving.
Simultaneously, Stan was nominated under two categories: one for his exceptional acting as Donald Trump in the biopic “The Apprentice,” directed by Ali Abbasi, which focuses on the president-elect’s journey in the 1970s; and another for his performance in the film “A Different Man” within the best actor in a musical or comedy category.
This year is a pivotal moment in the actor’s career, as both roles are creating a lot of excitement and generating awards speculation. In February, Stan received the Best Actor award for “A Different Man” at the Berlin International Festival, signifying the start of this significant phase in the life of the 42-year-old.
In conversation with executive awards editor Scott Feinberg for the THR’s Awards Chatter podcast, Stan expressed that receiving the award in Berlin was a “unique experience” and was “surprised and honored to be a part of it and to be acknowledged within it.
The Golden Globes will air on Sunday, Jan. 5 2025 on CBS. Nikki Glaser will host the ceremony.
Dick Clark Productions, the organization behind the Golden Globes, is co-owned by Penske Media Eldridge – a partnership between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge, which additionally controls The Hollywood Reporter.
