Marvel Rivals: Which Launch Characters Do Players HATE The Most

As a long-time Marvel fanatic with countless hours spent in battles across various dimensions, I must say that the latest addition to our gaming arsenal, Marvel Rivals, has been a thrilling ride. However, it seems that some characters have been granted an unfair advantage, making them as powerful as the gods themselves – or perhaps even more so!

Over the past few months, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the launch of Marvel Rivals, the highly anticipated game by NetEase, as it was in closed beta. Finally, the big day arrived this weekend, and now even more gamers like myself are diving into its action-packed universe!

While certain characters excel in their roles, there are others who’ve been labeled as overly powerful by players, even to the point of being “unbalanced” or “flawed.” Some fans anticipate that it might take a while for the game developers to release the initial patch, but here’s a list of characters that have attracted the most complaints since the game’s launch.

Jeff the Land Shark

Without a doubt, one of the most adorable characters in the game hails from the Gwenpool comics and goes by the name Jeff the Land Shark. He’s made a move from comic books to Marvel Rivals. While Jeff is known for his strategic prowess and healing abilities on the battlefield, he has also gained notoriety online, earning the nickname “the ‘Hitler’ of the game” by some players.

A frequent criticism leveled against Jeff is his ability to absorb everyone around him into a vortex and expel them to a specific spot at will. A popular strategy among Jeff players often involves corralling several opponents from the enemy team and ejecting them beyond the map boundaries.

It appears that Jeff’s ultimate ability may not be functioning correctly, as it sometimes manages to hit characters who have moved outside of its intended range. Perhaps there could be a simple solution in the future to address this issue.

Scarlet Witch/Squirrel Girl/Hela/etc.

A recurring issue within the gaming community revolves around certain characters being excessively powerful (Overpowered or OP). Characters frequently singled out as examples of this imbalance include Scarlet Witch, Hela, and Squirrel Girl.

The details regarding the equipment of neither character have been disclosed yet, but there are speculations that their damage potential might be slightly excessive. Some believe adjustments (or nerfs) will be made to these characters in due time.

On the other hand, there are even s

Iron Fist

As a devoted fan, I must say that since his debut, the character Lin Lie’s Iron Fist has been a subject of frequent complaints – but not from me! This martial arts master is an exceptionally agile close-combat specialist whose punches pack a punch strong enough to fell any adversary in mere seconds. Even aerial aces like Iron Man aren’t safe from his triple-jump prowess, making him a formidable force on the battlefield!

Some argue that opponents should immediately team up against Iron Fist when he’s identified, but there are instances where Iron Fist has managed to defeat a fully-healthy Hulk despite these odds.

Trust the Process

To be honest, it’s only the first weekend of the game, but players are already anticipating adjustments or “nerfs” once they figure out ways to exploit the character lineup. Meanwhile, a meme circulates humorously stating, “Every character is unbalanced and dictatorial except for the one I am using.

Some argue that NetEase intentionally overpowered the game characters to maintain balance, as the theory goes ‘when all are powerful, none stand out.’ However, it’s worth noting that few players seem to have issues with characters such as Storm, Groot, Mantis, or Thor.

It’s uncertain exactly when NetEase will carry out their rebalancing, yet even with some complaints, the overall response to Rivals has been predominantly favorable.

Marvel Rivals is now available to play for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
