Looks Like Jeremy Allen White Is Joining The Mandalorian And Grogu, But I’m Honestly Shocked By The Star Wars Character He’s Allegedly Playing

As a seasoned gamer and long-time Star Wars enthusiast with a soft spot for unexpected casting choices, I must admit that I find myself intrigued yet slightly perplexed by the news of Jeremy Allen White joining the cast of The Mandalorian spinoff movie as Rotta the Hutt.

Despite multiple Star Wars movies under development at different stages, only one has a confirmed release date – The Mandalorian and Grogu, set for May 2026, following recently completed filming. Interestingly, Jeremy Allen White from The Bear is rumored to be joining the cast of the spinoff movie of The Mandalorian, but I must admit, I’m taken aback by the character he might portray in the initial cinematic sequel to The Rise of Skywalker.

According to The InSneider and backed up by sources like Deadline, there are rumors that Timothy Olyphant will lend his voice to Rotta, a character who is Jabba the Hutt’s son. Rotta was initially heard in the movie “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and an episode of the subsequent TV series “The Clone Wars,” with David Acord providing the original vocalization. If these reports are accurate, Olyphant becomes the second actor to join the cast of “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” with Sigourney Weaver being the first, though her character remains undisclosed.

On one side, learning that Jeremy Allen White is set to join the Star Wars universe is exciting news, especially since it follows closely on the heels of his Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Carmy Berzatto in The Bear, which can be accessed with a Hulu subscription. However, the idea of White voicing a Hutt character in The Mandalorian & Grogu seems peculiar to me; it’s not the kind of role I would have anticipated for him in a distant galaxy.

More to come…
