As a movie enthusiast with over three decades of watching and analyzing various film genres under my belt, I can confidently say that I am thrilled about the upcoming third season of Euphoria. Having followed the series since its debut, I’ve grown attached to the characters and their complex journeys through adolescence and beyond. Colman Domingo‘s recent comments about the “gorgeous writing” from creator Sam Levinson piqued my interest even further.
Actor Colman Domingo, known for his role in Euphoria, is expressing high praise for the upcoming third and final season. Having played Rue’s (Zendaya) AA sponsor Ali Muhammed since the show’s debut, he shares that the Season 3 plotlines he’s been briefed on have left him utterly amazed.
In a recent chat with Variety, after receiving his Golden Globe nomination for the drama ‘Sing Sing’, Domingo disclosed that he’s had discussions with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson regarding the final season of the HBO series. Although he emphasized that he hadn’t seen a script yet, he expressed his conviction that the third season of Euphoria would showcase some of Sam’s most beautiful writing to date, based on their talks.
From what I’ve been told, there are some incredible scripts that I haven’t had a chance to read yet. The stories revolve around familiar characters we grow attached to as they navigate their struggles for survival and self-discovery in the world. Each character experiences significant growth throughout the narrative. That’s what I’ve heard, at least.
Based on what my friend Sam shared with me personally, I believe some of his latest work is simply stunning. In fact, he mentioned it to me, saying something along the lines of, “Let me share a bit about it with you.” Hearing him describe it left me absolutely awestruck.
As Domingo indicates, significant advancements will be seen in the storyline as Rue, Nate (Jacob Elordi), Jules (Hunter Schafer), Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), and the rest of the returning Euphoria cast experience adulthood beyond high school. Notably, the series will take a leap forward in time when it resumes.
‘Euphoria’s Season 3: A Long-Awaited Return
Domingo’s remarks suggest that the possibility of a third season for the popular HBO series “Euphoria” exists, but there has been significant uncertainty about whether viewers will ever get to witness its conclusion. The second season premiered in early 2022, but production has been hindered by Hollywood strikes and scheduling conflicts among the cast. Early this year, rumors swirled that Rue and her friends might not return due to HBO announcing that the show’s busy cast members were allowed to explore other projects. These doubts were further fueled when an unidentified actor expressed concerns about a third season actually happening. Additionally, there have been reports of tension between “Euphoria” star/executive producer Zendaya and series creator Levinson.
For Season three, it’s likely that most of the original cast members will reprise their roles, with exceptions being Storm Reid, whose character Gia won’t appear this season as she announced, and Angus Cloud, who unfortunately passed away in 2023 due to an accidental drug overdose.
The filming for Season 3 of Euphoria is planned to start in January. As per current news, the show is expected to air again in 2026. Nonetheless, “I believe it’s going to be an outstanding, exceptional Season 3, one that will undoubtedly be worth the wait,” Domingo said to Variety. We will certainly deliver on that promise.
Ever since the second season of “Euphoria” graced our screens, the show’s exceptional ensemble has been making waves in Hollywood: I’ve seen Zendaya shine in upcoming movies like “Dune: Part Two” and “Challengers”. Barrett Sweeney has been spotted in films such as “Reality”, “Anyone But You”, and “Immaculate”. As for Jacob Elordi, he’s starred in “Saltburn” and “Priscilla”, and is set to lead Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming “Frankenstein” as The Monster. Meanwhile, Dominic Fumusa has been recognized with Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations for his work on “Rustin”. His latest nod for “Sing Sing” further solidifies his reputation as a critically acclaimed actor.
Currently streaming on Max, you can find seasons one and two of the hit show “Euphoria”, featuring stars like Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Eric Dane, Hunter Schafer, Nika King (Sweeney), and Domingo Ciaravino.
