Marvel Contest of Champions: Everything you can expect from its massive 10th-anniversary celebration

  • Marvel Contest of Champions celebrates its 10 year anniversary
  • Receive free Champions with the return of the Grand Banquet Event
  • New Champion Isophyne makes her grand debut
  • Rank up your champions with the Chrono-versary Part 2 side-quest

As someone who has been following Marvel Contest of Champions since its inception, I can confidently say that this game has truly stood the test of time. With over 280 characters, countless events, and collaborations with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, it’s been a rollercoaster ride for fans like me.

Kabam is marking a tremendous decade of service for Marvel Contest of Champions with a wealth of 10th-anniversary content for the well-loved fighting game. If you’ve long been enthused by these Marvel combat clashes of superhuman scale, there couldn’t be a more opportune moment than this to fully immerse yourself!

10th-anniversary Champion giveaways

Don’t we all love freebies? To celebrate a decade of fast-paced action, Marvel Contest of Champions is bringing back the Grand Banquet Event – here, you can take on Quests, special Calendar events, and Double Track and Realm Events to score some goodies. Perhaps what’s most interesting is the Glorious Guardians Banquet Box, which puts six Glorious Guardians up for grabs in exchange for all your hard work.

To put it simply, your task is to set clear goals and earn six special keys known as Banquet Keys. Once you’ve collected them all, Purgatory, Medusa, Black Panther (from Civil War), Deadpool (X-Force), Sentry, and Sentinel will become under your control. Additionally, these Champions are in for a surprise update to disrupt the current game dynamics.

From December 10th to the 19th, they’re running a special event called the Grand 10×10 Supply Drop, where you can get free Champions! This is their biggest giveaway yet, offering up these characters: Spider-Man (Classic), Gambit, Gwenpool, Iron Man (Infinity War), Guillotine 2099, Storm (Pyramid X), Jabari Panther, Wiccan, Vox, and the highlight of the event – Isophyne.

At New York Comic Con, Isophyne was unveiled as a fresh Marvel character – an artificially created lifeform with Erika Ishii providing her voice. Watch the exclusive behind-the-scenes trailer to discover if she earns a spot among the original Champions Chee’ilth, Aegon, Morningstar, Guillotine 2099, and Purgatory.

Quests and quality-of-life updates galore

Of course, with these new Champions added to your lineup, you’ll no doubt want to give them a go in combat, which is what the aptly named Violent Delights quest is all about. With the radiation from an abnormal abundance of ISO-8 wreaking havoc on both friend and foe, it’s up to you as The Summoner to battle your way through the chaos to stop this madness once and for all.

If you’re looking for an engaging activity aside from your main quest, the Chrono-versary Part 2 side mission involves collaborating with H.E.R.B.I.E. to chronologically catalog the Champions. By doing so, you can progressively enhance your classic Champions and receive fantastic prizes in return.

If you’re looking for a tougher test, here’s some good news: The maximum Summoner level has been raised to 70! However, don’t expect it to be easy; you’ll need a fresh resource called Refined XP to reach this new height. On the bright side, a new feature in your Summoner profile will offer a glimpse of the exciting rewards that await as you progress, serving as an enticing incentive for reaching the challenging level 70.

In both the Home Screen and Crystal Vault, the menus have been refreshed with a new backdrop, offering improved character visuals and environment scenes to delight your eyes. Additionally, you’ll enjoy smoother gameplay at a speedy 60 frames per second for an enhanced visual experience.

MCOC through the years

Suffice it to say that ten years in the mobile sphere is no easy feat. Marvel Contest of Champions still wears its Google Play Editor’s Choice award in 2014 along with a badge for 2018’s Google Android Excellence awards, and currently boasts two million active players every month. More than
280 Champions
have joined the fight since its launch, and just last year, its Battlerealm Brawl Live Event saw players going head-to-head in a
Top 8 global player competition
in Vancouver, BC.

Beyond just mobile platforms, it’s important to note that last year, the unique character Chee’ilth was the main focus in a special edition digital comic book inspired by the First Nations. This is consistent with various promotional collaborations throughout the years, which have included celebrities like Jeff Goldblum, John Mulaney, Taika Waititi, Tom Holland, Gemma Chan, Dave Bautista, Clark Gregg, Michael B. Jordan, Richard Madden, and other well-known figures joining the scene.

Lastly, earlier this year, the Wheel of Champions stood grandly at the Martin Luther King Jr Promenade during San Diego Comic-Con. If you happened to be in San Diego, you might have come across the impressive prize wheel collaboratively built with Google on that day – a truly awe-inspiring spectacle.

We owe everything to you, our cherished community of enthusiastic Marvel fans who have been loyal supporters of MCoC since its inception. This includes the more than 37,000 members on Discord as well as the 1.5 million followers on social media who all share our love and fandom. With such strong backing like yours, it looks like there’s nothing but bigger and better things ahead!
