Watch the First Trailer for ‘28 Years Later’ Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes

As a seasoned gamer and survivor of countless zombie apocalypse simulations, I must say that the trailer for “28 Years Later” has piqued my interest significantly. Having spent countless hours battling hordes of undead in various games, I can appreciate the gritty realism and tension that Boyle and Garland bring to their films. The fact that they’re using an iPhone 15 Pro Max for cinematography only adds to its authenticity – who needs high-end equipment when you have a smartphone?

Sony Pictures has debuted the first trailer of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 28 Years Later.

In the continuation of the “28 Days Later” series, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Erin Kellyman, and Jack O’Connell are the stars. This new installment is exactly 28 years after the release of the 2007 sequel, “28 Weeks Later.” The plot synopsis goes as follows: Thirty years have passed since the rage virus broke out from a bioweapons lab, and now, under strict quarantine conditions, some have managed to survive amidst the infected. A tight-knit group of survivors inhabit a small island linked to the mainland by a heavily guarded bridge.

As I embarked on a perilous journey from our island sanctuary to delve into the enigmatic core of the mainland, I unearthed mysteries, marvels, and abominations that had twisted not only the afflicted but also other survivors in their wake.

In the upcoming release of the original’s sequel, “28 Days Later,” it has been announced that Cillian Murphy, who played the lead character back in 2002, will once again step into his role and take on an executive producer position. Interestingly, he doesn’t seem to appear in the trailer, leading some fans to wonder if the zombie spotted at approximately 1 minute and 47 seconds is actually Murphy’s character, Jim, due to a striking resemblance to the actor.

Working together with Garland and Boyle are Andrew MacDonald and Peter Rice, while cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle captured the movie using an iPhone 15 Pro Max for its camera.

Watch the trailer above. 28 Years Later premieres June 20, 2025.
