As a seasoned Path of Exile 2 player who has traversed the digital battlefields of Grinding Gear Games across various platforms, I find the crossplay feature to be a game-changer. The ability to team up with friends regardless of their chosen gaming console is truly liberating and adds an extra layer of camaraderie to my adventures.
Crossplay in Path of Exile 2 makes it easy to play with friends regardless of their platform.
To broaden your multiplayer experiences or remain within your platform, it’s crucial to understand how to adjust crossplay settings.
This guide shows you how to adjust crossplay settings so the game suits your playstyle.
How To Enable (Or Disable) Crossplay
In Path of Exile 2, players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S can all join together in a single shared game world due to the implementation of crossplay technology.
By default, cross-platform play is enabled, allowing you to join games and form teams with users from different platforms. Yet, some gamers might choose to restrict gameplay within their own platform.
You can’t turn off crossplay in the game right now, but you can tweak it depending on your system.
Crossplay settings are handled in the system if you’re on a console.
Here’s how you can adjust it on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S:
PlayStation 5
- Open the Settings menu.
- Go to Account Management.
- Select Privacy Settings.
- Look for cross-play preferences and adjust them to enable or disable cross-play.
Xbox Series X|S
- Open the Settings menu.
- Navigate to Account.
- Select Privacy & Online Safety.
- Locate the cross-play settings and toggle the option to enable or disable cross-play.
Unlike consoles, PC players do not currently have an option to disable crossplay.
This feature is just turned on; there’s no option to change it through system settings.
Currently, PC gamers have the constant opportunity to engage with players across various platforms within common zones and towns.
However, the developers may introduce crossplay customization options in future updates.
In my gaming experience, when crossplay isn’t enabled, I don’t get to interact with players from different platforms within the same towns or shared zones. However, the game does offer some multiplayer aspects that keep things engaging.
On your chosen platform, you’ll continue to encounter other players for an engaging experience. Rest assured, you can still make use of features such as parties, guilds, trading, and chat to ensure collaborative gameplay remains seamless.
By disabling crossplay, I might find myself conversing less with fellow gamers in the global chat and exploring less populated public areas, particularly when it’s late night or early morning for some of my gaming buddies.
Nevertheless, the impact of this cut on the gaming experience is expected to be minimal as Path of Exile 2 maintains an active environment, even with a smaller player base.
Have you experienced any issues with crossplay in Path of Exile 2?
