Denzel Washington returned to the role of Robert McCall last year for The Equalizer 3 which, at the time, was marketed as the final outing in the action trilogy. The threequel finds Robert settling down in a small town in Southern Italy, but when his new neighborhood is threatened by the Mafia, Robert must once again call upon his particular set of skills to keep the peace and the people safe.

The third installment of “The Equalizer,” titled “The Equalizer 3,”, garnered the franchise’s most favorable critical reception, earning a rating of 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. This surpasses the initial film’s 61% and the sequel’s “rotten” 52%. Despite speculations that it was the end, Denzel Washington has now confirmed that two more movies are under development.

“I promised another Equalizer movie and we’re currently working on numbers four and five. Many people are thrilled about this – they really enjoy the Equalizer series, but I’ve come to understand that these films aren’t just for the audience; they’re also for me since they allow me to fight the villains. The audience wants me to take down the bad guys, and when they say ‘We can’t get them, so you go get them,’ my response is always ‘I’ll get them! Just hold on.’ I’ll return shortly.

It’s reassuring to learn that Washington intends to continue with action roles, as we would keep anticipating him to take down the villains indefinitely, which is fantastic news indeed.
