As a die-hard fan of both WWE and Star Trek, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the news that Becky Lynch, aka The Man herself, is joining the cast of Starfleet Academy! Her tenacity, resilience, and unparalleled fighting spirit are traits that any Starfleet officer should possess.
The news is confirmed: Starfleet Academy has secured one of the planet’s toughest females, hailing from the wrestling world as WWE superstar Becky Lynch. She will be making her debut in the show during its premiere season. In her wrestling career, firsts are nothing out of the ordinary for Lynch. She was the inaugural SmackDown women’s champion, the first to hold both the SmackDown and Raw women’s titles simultaneously, and one of the initial three women to headline WrestleMania alongside Charlotte Flair and former UFC fighter Ronda Rousey.
Rebecca Quin, a lass from Ireland who’s famously known for kicking butt, revealed on X her latest adventure. In a video she posted (watch it below), she began by saying, “You know when you’ve already been the world champion, the only direction to move is upwards, and that’s towards the stars.” She then announced that she’d be enrolling in Starfleet Academy as part of the bridge crew.
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been selected to be part of the bridge crew at Star Trek: Starfleet Academy! This incredible journey has allowed me to work alongside an exceptional cast and crew. I can hardly wait for you all to see it when it premieres on Paramount Plus. By the way, let’s keep our fingers crossed and strive for a long and prosperous future!
In 2018, Quin started her acting career with the film “The Marine 6: Close Quarters,” followed by various guest appearances on TV shows like “Billions.” However, she only has two acting roles to her credit so far, one being the portrayal of ’80s pop star Cyndi Lauper in NBC’s “Young Rock.” Her most recent wrestling performance was in May of this year, and it remains unknown when she will compete again. Her memoir, titled “Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl,” was published in March and made the New York Times bestseller list.
Who Else Is Joining ‘Starfleet Academy?’
Quin is simply one of many individuals who have enlisted for the upcoming series titled “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy“, situated in the 32nd century. This show focuses on a fresh batch of cadets, marking the first new class in over a hundred years, as they mature and learn to become officers. Acclaimed actress Holly Hunter is set to play both the captain and chancellor, responsible for supervising these trainees, among whom are Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, and Zoë Steiner.
In the show, it’s worth noting that Tatiana Maslany, best known for Orphan Black, has a recurring part. Similarly, Paul Giamatti is also returning, taking on a character who seems to have a troubled history linked with one of the cadets. Additionally, Mary Wiseman is set to appear as a guest star, resuming her role from Star Trek: Discovery that we recognize as Sylvia Tilly.
Production for the anticipated 12th series within the growing Star Trek universe commenced in August and continues at present. A conclusion date has yet to be announced, hence a release date remains uncertain. However, it’s speculated that the premiere will take place on Paramount+ sometime between late 2025 and early 2026.
