Actor Varun Dhawan is getting ready for the highly anticipated movie titled Baby John. During an exclusive interview with TopMob, he disclosed his method of visualizing a ‘blockbuster’ film before securing this role, and added that director Atlee was firm on casting only him for this project.
In an interview with TopMob, Varun Dhawan candidly discussed his foray into action roles for the first time. He expressed, “To be honest, my fans have been eagerly anticipating this for quite some time now. They’ve been urging me to take on action, action, action in a mass film. Yet, I never thought I would be doing action under Atlee sir. That was quite unexpected, don’t you agree?
He continued by discussing the idea of it materializing and expressed, “Eventually, a highly accomplished filmmaker will make an appearance in my life, one who will entrust me with creating a massively popular film.

Varun stated, “I had been hoping that someone would entrust me with this particular genre of films. To be completely candid, I wasn’t finding that chance here. The chances weren’t materializing from the local filmmakers.
After being thankful to Atlee, the actor from Baby John continued by saying, “I’m deeply appreciative of Atlee when we conversed at Taj Lands End. He offered me a cup of filter coffee and we sat on the floor together. Yes, on the floor we both were, and he expressed, ‘I want you to take up this role. I believe you are capable of doing it.’
In addition, Varun Dhawan shared that director Atlee had always wanted him for the movie, stating, “I find it hard to believe even now. I asked him ‘Sir, why do you want me in an action film?’ He replied, ‘Because you’re like a baby, sir.’ Then he added, ‘You’re the only one I would make this with. Others, I don’t want to make this movie with.’ This statement holds great significance for me. That’s how the making of this film began.
On December 25, 2024, the movie titled “Baby John” is ready to premiere in theaters. The cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh, Jackie Shroff, Rajpal Yadav, along with special appearances by Salman Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Sanya Malhotra. Directed by Kalees and produced by A for Apple Studios and Cine1 Studios, the film is expected to offer an exhilarating cinematic adventure in December.
