New Images From 'Jurassic World Rebirth' Reveal Sequel's Exotic Locations

As a film enthusiast with a penchant for adventure and a heart that beats a little faster at the sight of the Jurassic World franchise, I must say that the latest installment, “Jurassic World Rebirth“, has me absolutely thrilled! The images we’ve seen so far, filmed in exotic locations like Thailand and Malta, are nothing short of breathtaking.

We’re about seven months away from the release of “Jurassic World Rebirth,” but thanks to some recently unveiled images from the film, we can now get a better glimpse at some of the sequel’s stunning backdrops. The movie is slated for release on July 2, 2025, and marks the latest installment in the popular dinosaur series, taking place five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion.” In this new chapter, we meet a new cast of characters, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey.

According to Entertainment Weekly, fresh glimpses of Jurassic World Rebirth (as shown below) showcase some of the movie’s stunning locations, such as Thailand and the island nation of Malta. Filming in these distant spots undeniably presented unique difficulties, as director Gareth Edwards admits he kept hidden from the cast, particularly concerning the venomous water snakes that could be found there. Oh my!

Now that we’ve moved past it, I can share that we filmed in rivers and mangrove swamps. While exploring these locations, we encountered venomous water snakes, some quite large which we had to catch. We chose not to inform the actors about this since they spent an entire day wading through the same area. Additionally, there were poisonous spiders lurking near the tree edges. If you came across them, it was best not to draw attention to them and keep moving.

Johansson portrays Zora Bennett in Jurassic World Rebirth, a skilled covert operative that’s tasked with leading a team onto an island that houses three of the biggest dinosaurs left in the world, who – as luck would have it – happen to hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. The job is simple: get in, extract some DNA, and get out. Of course, as we’ve all come to expect by now, nothing is “simple” in the Jurassic World universe, and mayhem ensues in Rebirth, which will hopefully be the start of a new trilogy of films.

The Cast of ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Had Some “Near-Death” Experiences

Edwards traveled extensively, from the dense jungles of Thailand to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, capturing the exteriors for Jurassic World Rebirth in as many authentic locations as possible. Although this film could start a new trilogy, the director revealed that he has no plans to return to the ocean. His experiences with unpredictable filming conditions on open waters and the harrowing “near-death experiences” of the cast, which were worth it but draining for everyone, are likely reasons for his decision.

I doubt I’ll make another movie in the ocean due to its challenging nature. Despite the difficulties, I’m relieved we pushed through. I believe everyone involved – the actors – endured a wild journey that mirrors the characters in the film. This was a highly demanding and at times life-threatening experience, but if you managed to pull it off, the payoff was significant.

You’ll have the chance to decide whether the risk paid off with the reward when the movie “Jurassic World Rebirth” premieres in cinemas nationwide on July 2, 2025, distributed by Universal Pictures.
